Weight Training/Weight Gaining..

I started weight training 3 x a week in November and have since gained about 5lbs According to the body weight/composition thing my trainer uses I have lost almost 1lb of fat and gained the rest in muscle. I kind of believe this because my clothes are still fitting well and not as if I had gained 5lbs of fat.
I've started increasing my cardio to at least 30 mins a day on top of the weight training to try and boost the fat loss so I can hopefully see the scale start to come down again. Wondering what others experiences have been starting out?

Is your goal to gain weight? Or lose weight? Or maintain your weight? Your goals are not clear in your post.

If you are trying to gain and add more cardio, that means you will just lower your surplus so you will gain less muscle and fat.

It would be unusual for a woman not taking drugs to gain 6 lbs of muscle in two months, but your measurements should tell the tale.

Are you logging? Increasing cardio won't cause you to lose weight unless you are eating at a deficit. In fact many people gain weight on exercise programs because they eat more.

I've been weight training for about nine months..I lost about fourteen lbs but upped my calories a few months ago(I was eating about 1800-2000) and have stayed constant between 148-150lbs since then (eating between 2300-2900)..depending on how I feel and my activity level that day.

Sorry.. my goal was to lose about 10lbs and tone up :) now I'm up 5 more lbs!
I am eating healthy making sure I have protein at every meal and keeping my calories low.. I try for 1200 per day but usually end up around 14-1600. And I wasn't counting during the holidays.. but also didn't gain over that time. I gained the 5lbs in the first 6 weeks of training. I'm trying to just stay with it all and not get discouraged because I feel good and my clothes aren't tight. Maybe I should stay off the scale altogether.

Well... maybe, maybe not. My guess is you gained a few pounds of water weight when starting your training, which is usual because your muscles retain water to repair themselves. The water weight would have come off quickly, but then you gained actual weight over the holidays.
