I'm rounding up my total weight loss goal to 50lb.
What is the total lb loss per week goal that is healthy?

Is 2lb per week healthy? If it's healthy is it unrealistic?

depends in your current weight and height.

2 pounds a week is fairly aggressive, but possible. but the closer to goal you get, the more unrealistic it gets.

No more than 1% of your body weight is often used as a rule of thumb. To be able to lose 1% per week on average, you have to have enough excess body fat (at least be classified as "obese"), set the right calorie target, and stick religiously to the calore target.

Okay so I've been feeding baby and stopped now as nearly 2 years old. I put on weight feeling hungry during those years (2 kids) but now I've stopped I feel less hungry.
My problem was eating sugar. I've stopped with that now.

I'm going to weight myself on Monday (given myself a week to just get things out my system) but I was about 165lbs at 5"4 and target is 120lb but I wouldn't be surprised if I'm 170lb hence rounding up. I won't be over that though.

The simple work of nursing a baby adds 500 calories per day to mum's calorie needs.
The simple act of weaning baby subtracts 500 calories per day from mum's needs.

Try setting your weight loss goal in your myfitnesspal user profile to 1 lb per week. If that's difficult to live with, change it to 0.5 lb per week. Any real calorie deficit will add up nicely over time.

Thank you. I'll be more realistic and take it from there.

your problem wasnt 'eating sugar' it was eating a calorie surplus which led you to gain weight.

you could start with 1.5lb, until you lose 20lb and then reduce to 1lb per week.

I started with about 50 to lose to get to a healthy weight (I'm still not there). I'm 5'8" and started at 212.

The first 22 lbs came off at an average of 1.7 lbs/wk and was pretty easy. I made a point of being active so I could eat 1900-2100 calories/day. My weight loss naturally started to slow as I decided I didn't want to eat less than that.

By the time I reached 35 lbs lost I was losing about .8 lbs/wk. I took a 4 month maintenance break. I regained about 5 lbs and realized I still need to be diligent in tracking my calorie intake. I just started back to lose the next 20 which I plan to take until the fall of 2018 to lose, so I expect about .5 lbs/wk.

My plan has always been to diet so that I can sustain it long term no matter how long it took to lose to begin with. It's gone well so far.

My dietician said 1% of your body weight is the best bet. So if you're 300lbs, 3 pounds per week. If you're 250lbs, 2.5lbs a week. If you're 200lbs, 2lbs a week. If you're 150lbs, 1.5lbs a week, etc. So if you weigh 170lbs like stated above, 1.7lbs a week is the MAX on a very strict diet.
