I love cookies and I am always looking for ways to make them healthier and low fat. I found this recipe and I have made them several times. They are pretty good and I like that they are made with whole wheat flour. I thought I would share. They aren't crunchy, they are soft but oh so filling! Seriously one cookie fills me up and nothing else really does that so these are good snacks. Also there are the new vitamin cookies out called WhoNu? and they have Oreo, crunchy chocolate chip, soft and chewy and vanilla cremes. They have quite a bit of vitamins and you can eat 3 for around 135 calories. They are low fat too. Just don't eat too many. They aren't as filling as the recipe I provided below and the WhoNus can make your tummy hurt if you eat more than one serving in a day. Anyway, here is my favorite light chocolate chip cookie recipe:

Chocolate chip cookies will never be declared a health food, but you can make them less unhealthy by tweaking the ingredients a little. Here's a recipe for a lighter chocolate chip cookie that still manages to satisfy a sweet tooth, but perhaps with a little less guilt.

Prep Time: 10 minutes
Cook Time: 12 minutes
Total Time: 22 minutes
Ingredients:

* 1/2 cup whole-wheat flour
* 3/4 cup all-purpose flour
* 1/4 tsp baking soda
* 1/4 tsp salt
* 4 tbsp butter, melted
* 2 egg whites
* 1 tsp vanilla extract
* 3/4 cup firmly-packed light brown sugar
* 1/2 cup semisweet chocolate chips

Preparation:
Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Line two cookies sheets with parchment paper or a silicone mat.

In a medium bowl, whisk flour, baking soda and salt. In a large bowl, whisk together the egg whites, butter, and vanilla; stir in the brown sugar until smooth. Gradually add in the flour mixture and mix well. Stir in chocolate chips.

Drop dough by the tablespoon onto cookie sheets about 2 inches apart. Bake one cookie sheet at a time for 10-12 minutes.

Yields 24 cookies.

    THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!! Chocolate chip cookies are a major weakness of mine. I've been steering clear of that aisle for a month.
  • haha I know what you mean! I went to the grocery store and I had a mad craving for some chocolate chips cookies and I couldn't help but scan the aisle and I picked up some reduced fat chips ahoy when I saw the new WhoNus? and was so excited. They weren't expensive either. They were cheaper than the chips ahoy so it was a double score. And since they hurt your tummy if you eat more than one serving a day, it prevents you from over eating them. Pretty awesome!
