HRM watch pulse technology vs age weight and height?

Ive been using my Sportline with pulse technology watch and it was only until I started doing the 30 day shred that I question the accuracy of the reading. Everything else I do seems to match up with various calorie burner estimates, including MFP. When doing the 30 day shred it says I burn at max 80 cals (its a roughly 25 min workout with a warm up and cool down). I was wondering what kind of HRM watch do you use? Would you recommend a pulse technology HRM watch or one where you can enter in your height, weight, age and max heart rate. Or are there ones out there that combine both? Im not picky on price if I can find one thats worth it as I am a strong believer that they are a very useful tool.

this MFP blog was the most helpful I've ever read about what type of HRM to buy...definitely worth the read.

I myself have a POLAR FT4, which is great....however I wish I had spent $20 and gotten the FT7 model.

    Good Luck!

Interesting link, thank you for posting it! I think I will go ahead and get a Polar F7 assuming the FT7 is it) like suggested on the link. :)

I just bought the Polar FT7(F) for women (red and silver color). I have used it this past week and I am very pleased. Just be sure to wet the chest strap according to the instruction book. I wear my chest strap underneath by bra and it keeps it in place. Good Luck with your decision.

Good choice on the FT7.. it is a good HRM. That article is a bit dated, but the information is still relevant.

I have the FT7 myself and have never had any issues with it.

What is the difference between an F6 and an F7? I stopped by Canadian Tire today and seen that they have the F6.

Not exactly sure, considering they have discontinued the F6 and F7.

I'd google and see what you can find.. I want to say that they are not too different and either one would be fine.

I have a Polar Ft7 and I love it and as far as I can tell its pretty accurate. It's right on sync with the elliptical on heartrate although my calorie burn is less on the polar (i'm assuming its more accurate since it not only has my height and weight but also sex and age). My average burn for 30DS is around 230. I bought mine off Ebay for 91.00 (shipping included)
