30-40g saturated fat a day - good or bad?

A relative of mine consumes one vanilla slice a day which has 15g itself and lots of cheese, lamb and on average has about 35g of saturated fat a day. Generally though the diet is very high in fibre and omega 3 too from salmon which is consumed allot.
I know saturated fat is not bad as once thought but is 40g too much?

The saturated fat isn't unhealthy; an unbalanced or monotonous diet is unhealthy. Envious or worried, and how do you know this relative's intake in such detail?0

They track their intake on MFP and they themselves are very fit and healthy. Me myself I have a diet high in omega 3, fibre, protein and lean meats like chicken. Lots of carbs too. But since Christmas I have been eating allot of cheese and am just curious to know peoples thoughts.0 -

It's not good or bad out of context. For me it's bad because it pushes my cholesterol in an unwanted direction so I try to keep mine to the lowest level I'm comfortable with (no higher than 25 grams but often lower). For those who don't have that problem it's not bad.0

I find the Japanese diet interesting, from what I understand high in omega 3, fiber, protein and carbs but little saturates and is or was my preferred diet simply because I love Japanese cuisine. It is probably the least westernized diet of a developed country in the world though and they eat natural, clean ingredients.
Me personally I believe strongly in getting adequate exercise but also in genetics that run in a family, of many conditions we have very little control of.
My neighbor perfectly fit and healthy, a tennis coach in fact and regular cyclist, very trim and always ate well - died of a stroke aged 59 and not expected at all.
Providing there is no excessive intake of calories over what a person needs, eat what you want providing it is balanced (in context of what else you have eaten) and free from trans fats.
