What are your goals?
Barring some very specific situations that require immediate medical assistance, your body is already "detoxing" you. Detoxes and cleanses are, at best, a waste of time and money. At worst, they can actually hurt you.12 -
I doesn't work, but I guess you already know that if you've been here for over 2 years.3

I never knew that.. people always said it was good to cleanse or detox your body to get rid of the toxins and start fresh.
My goal is about 30lbs give or take6 -

The question comes up pretty regularly. And always gets the same answer (don't bother with them).3 -

What toxins though? That's the problem with products that claim to 'detox' or 'cleanse'. None of them can ever tell you what, exactly, you are detoxing from or what toxins are currently coursing through our system at such seemingly-alarming levels.9 -

These forums are notoriously against detoxes and cleanses, and rightfully so. Someone posts about them almost daily, so if you've spent any time on here at all, you're likely to have seen that.
Cleanses don't clean anything. Your body is very good at doing it all on its own. At most, you will "detox" out some water weight because you're walking around hungry. Most people regain all that weight very, very quickly post cleanses/detoxes. You will end up poorer, hungrier, hangrier, and no better off than if you had eaten nutritious food at a modest caloric deficit.3 -
Okay, dang my apoligies for posting this question. I havent spent really anytime on here besides logging and asking a few questions. Thanks tho.12

There is no evidence that this is true. Your body is always removing what it doesn't need and processing what it does. You don't need to do anything specific to get rid of "toxins" and you don't need a "fresh start" to be successful with whatever health, weight loss, or fitness goals that you have.
If someone was telling me that this was a good idea, I would be very skeptical about whatever else they were telling me.2 -

Modern day snake oil and current fad...at least these days it's something you drink or whatever...I remember back in the day when getting a hose shoved up your *kitten* for a colonic was all the rage.1

If you want to detox, just give your body what it needs to do that job. Water, fiber, anti-oxidants, sleep, exercise, etc. It shouldn't be a temporary thing, though, you always need that stuff.3

Can you name these “toxins” that you would be removing from your body?
They aren’t real, they just purge your body of fluids. Which can actually be quiet dangerous.3 -
Alright thanks0

This is why I took a break from the forums for a while...condescending posters with their snarky comments. Why jump on someone for asking a question? Give a helpful answer (without the snark), or move along...19 -

I agree. Very rude. This is suppose to be a community of support. Everyone approaches their journey differently, it should be respected.15 -

Hmmmm. I guess if I was the OP, I would appreciate the information.
I will never understand why opposing views are rude. Especially when the opposing view is correct. I just don’t get it. If we say what you want to hear, but it’s bad information, that is not helpful. Sometimes you need a kick in the *kitten* to turn your thinking around.
I didn’t perceive anyone being rude.
Its your opinion and I have mine.15 -

Not saying it's rude to have an opposing view, or to inform someone who is possibly misinformed. It's the way that many posters go about it... it's unnecessary to make someone feel like an idiot for asking a question. It's one of the purposes of these forums. The purpose isn't to be an outlet for jerks.14 -

I think with online responses you can’t hear vocal inflections, nor see body language or facial expressions. It’s just direct words, so it sounds different than it would be in person.
Often, when you read, use Happy inflections and think of your favorite person telling you something.
Also, people communicate differently. Some people are direct, others are more subtle.
Some people respond without considering that someone has already said the same thing. I’m guilty of that.
So, take it with a grain of salt.
But, always, if a bunch of people are telling you it’s BS, it’s worth researching on your own and making up your mind about it.
All of this. Some need to go back to their safe space.
