Time of Food Entry

So I'm new to my fitness pal and really trying to take control of my weight. I'm being very detailed in my diary entries, down to a crumb (lying is only cheating myself!). My question is I usually eat dinner close to midnight (sometimes after midnight) due to my work schedule. And I have my drink or two of vodka. I only drink Vodka with soda water, no sweeteners or anything. If I have a couple drinks after midnight (and/or food), am I cheating myself for recording on the previous day, or will it take away from my caloric restriction for the following day (since it's after midnight).

Most people count the day to last up until they go to bed.
I go to bed at 2 or 3 am anything I eat up until then would go on that day's log.
Once I wake a new day starts.

    Cheers, h.
Vodka has calories, don't forget to count them. B)

Thanks for that! I figured as much but didn’t want to cheat myself.

If it’s 1am in the morning I would record it as the next day ... and as breakfast :disappointed:;)

My day of food tracked is between getting up in the morning and going to sleep at night, not 12-12.

Dont forget to log the calories in the vodka.

On top of this, don’t forget that tonic water also carries decent calories, so definitely go for the slimline option :)

Only once did I ever log a very late after midnight snack as the next day, because my calories were already very high for the current day. Otherwise I would think to log anything before going back to bed as the same day and start a new day after waking again.

Of course it has been suggested - never go to sleep on the same day you plan to wake up, therefore never after midnight. :)
