If it was, I would have never lost weight. I reached and maintain my goal weight while eating about 80 percent of my calories after 6pm.6

If the calories you eat after 6:00 pm consistently make you exceed your calorie goal, yes. On the other hand, if you eat up until midnight and stay within your calorie goal, you'll still successfully lose weight.
Weight loss is about how many calories you take in vs. how many you expend - it has nothing to do with when those calories are eaten.11 -
Great!! When i usually eat after 6 my mum keeps nagging at me saying ohh you will put weight on now lol! Just seen if it was true2

It's possible that staying within a calorie deficit with highly salty foods consumed after 6 p.m. can lead to a 1-day appearance of weight increase, but that's just water.1

Ate most of my dinners after 8pm, still lost.1

I remember a TV 'expert' telling everyone watching not to eat carbs after 6pm - she didn't last long....0

Can your body tell time? Mine can't.1
-
No. I only eat dinner before 6 once a week (because I have to be in bed by 7). I still lost 65 pounds doing that.1
-
I don't get home from work until after 6pm, then make dinner. Meal time is usually somewhere between 7:30/8pm. I'm losing just fine.1

well, i hope not or the 100+ pounds i lost eating dinner after 6 pm is going to come back with a vengeance ....6

Technically everytime you eat, your gain weight of the food.
Meal timing has virtually no bearing on weight loss or gain of fat or muscle per sae. Calorie intake is the sole motor for that.1 -

No but if you have acid reflux, I recommend not eating late at night.4

My mom says the same thing, except at 7pm.
Moms have the worstttt nutrition facts that they grew up with from their mothers. I’ve found out on these forums that basically everything my mother has told me so far has been lieeeesssssss (eggs will give me high cholesterol, coffee is a diuretic, you can’t digest food at night, white rice is the king of nutritious food).5 -
The only time you should set a deadline for stopping eating at night is if you have acid reflux or it screws up your sleeping patterns.
for me, I can't eat after 8pm because then I can't sleep. I never could figure out why, but it's just easier to not eat after 8. But that's nothing to do with my weight.1 -

I eat most of my food after 6 pm.
But also ... whose 6 pm? Your 6 pm or my 6 pm? And what if you travel and suddenly you're at a different 6 pm ... do you have to stick to your home 6 pm or the destination 6 pm? And really, aren't we always in a state of "after 6 pm"? It's 1 pm here right now, but it is after 6 pm yesterday!11 -

Ditto. I don’t get home from work and working out until about 8pm. Eat between 8:30 & 9.
I think that “rule” was invented to help keep people from mindless snacking after dinner when many are generally more sedentary, such as watching a lot of tv.2 -
No not true at all. I eat 90 percentage of my allotted calories after 8 and I'm in bed by 100

every cell and every organ in your body has a clock, and yes, they do know what (type of food, carb, fat, etc) and when you eat and it can work against you. its called the Circadian Clock. There are several studies and reports you can google for yourself. this is just one article: https://www.npr.org/sections/thesalt/2015/03/10/389596946/circadian-surprise-how-our-body-clocks-help-shape-our-waistlines

Complete load of bollocks. It's after 6pm somewhere in the world all the time.3
-
Not only do I eat after 6, I often have a handful of jelly beans right before bed. Lost 42 pounds so far. I think that myth is a combo of gaining water/waste weight if you eat later than you usually do, and too much mindless snacking.3

Nothing wrong with white rice.
I love rice, but it is not the king of nutritious foods nor does it feed your brain like she suggests.
