I am a wildland and volunteer firefighter and have always been overweight since i was a teenager. The best i weighed was in high school, 190 lbs at 5'10". I have a endomorphic frame. Anyway, i am at 307lbs now and in a routine of gaining weight over the summer and fall before getting into a winter workout routine when my work is more stable. However this is the largest ive ever been and im really noticinv. My goal weight is to be a strong 200 or even 180. To change my lifestyle and continue my goals throughout the summer and beyond.

I just left my volunteer company after almost 10 years due to personal reason. Im at my heaviest also and trying to turn that around. Best progam that I've tried the past few years is circuit training developed by Kevin Malley. He's retired from FDNY was was running the Fire Science program at my University. Wrote a book called Firefighter Fit, and his class (Fitness for First Responders) was great. Its circuit, whole-body weight training and really kicks your butt. Im doing that now every other day, alternating with cardio; also counting calories. Down about 5 pounds in 2 weeks....Heart attacks is the number killer of firefighters (and cancer); dont be a statistic.

Hi, I'm a firedighter in the Royal Air Force, alternating cardio with a good body weight circuit is definitely the way to go. Did this from December 2016 to April 2017 and dropped around 40lbs, have put some of that back on since but I am now restarting the programme to get back to where I was.

I did it a few years back to get ready for the CPAT and it definately helped alot. I didnt get the job, but even a month of strict circuit/cardio/calories showed great results

Somatypes have long been debunked as a load of woo, so you can ignore that for starters.

Weight loss primarily happens in the kitchen, not the gym, eat less than you burn and you will lose weight, incorporate cardio for heart health and strength training to maintain muscle whilst you lose fat but focusing on your food will help you get to your goal.

Set yourself up in MFP making sure your stats are correct and that you have chosen the applicable non-exercise activity level, set yourself to 2lbs per week loss and log your normal food intake accurately for a couple of days to see where you can make small changes to cut back to your calorie allowance.
