For those that have been successful...

I am pretty close to my goal (yay!) and I have been planning for maintenance. I feel pretty confident with everything that I've learned about calorie counting. My question is a weird one...for those who have lost and maintained did you ever hit a period of disbelief? Like...am I really this small now? And did you worry about maintaining? It's like the mental side hasn't fully caught up to the physical. I know I'm smaller, I see the numbers drop, I am buying smaller clothes, I can see a change in the mirror (so no body dysmorphia)but I still am surprised sometimes. I tried on pants today in a much smaller size than I'm used to and my first thought was "no way. These must be mislabeled", so I grabbed another pair to confirm. And then I get a little paranoid, like this is a fluke and surely it won't last. Even though I know I have all the tools to maintain. Curious to see if others have been through that and when did your brain catch up and accept the change!

I feel like it's a little tougher with me because I ended up skinny fat once I got goal weight, lost too fast and didn't lift during the loss, so I lost a decent amount of muscle.

Now I'm working on body composition and I think I'll believe myself to be slim as I work thru that.

Every day. I don't know whether I'll ever see myself as not a fat person anymore. It's even stranger for me because I moved across the country in the same month I started maintenance, so no one here even knows that I used to weigh 100 pounds more than I do now.
