When looking at the weekly calories consumed chart, do you guys think it’s more important to look at the total or the net? I try not to eat back my Fitbit tracking calories, but sometimes I do. And sometimes I eat more than what I burn. But sometimes I’m way under. Thoughts??

net, because MFP works by you eating your exercise cals because the deficit is in your calorie goal before exercise.

I'm on the fence with that, I prefer to look at my total weekly calories and TDEE. For maintenance I need them not to exceed 14000 weekly/ 2000 a day gross. I never really think about net calories but then I'm not one for exercising more than 30-40 mins a day so its not like I'm burning everything off I eat. If someone was burning loads of calories exercising then it would be important to look at the net cals.

you're comparing 2 completely different things...

MFP uses a NEAT calculation to get your calorie goal.

You are talking about TDEE which already has our exercise included.

So do you think it is ok to eat back some of the calories burned then? Since, technically, I’d still be under my daily goal for the net?

I always ate 100% of my exercise calories. Lost my weight right on schedule, and I've maintained for years doing so.

I didn't use a device like fitbit, though. Just straight-up MFP, used as designed. It baffles me that people use a tool but don't use it as designed.

Do you use a screwdriver to put nails in the wall? Seems counter-productive.

Thanks. I always thought if I ate back any exercise calories, it was counterproductive. But I’m happy to see I was wrong and I get to eat more the days I burn more!!
