I have been having crazy, intense sugar cravings as of late. I was never a sweets person before. Does that mean I may have a nutrient deficiency somewhere?

Yes, I’ve just reached 3 months sober6 -
Do you eat fruit? For some people, eating whole fruit helps manage cravings for less-nutritious sweets. Three servings daily is a reasonable target. Not a cure-all, but has helped me and others.
Congratulations on your sobriety!0 -

Are you letting your blood sugar get too low? When I have idiopathic hypoglycemic episodes I just shovel in anything sweet I can get.0

I craved sugar really bad after becoming sober. It did decrease after the first year! Congratulations on the sobriety!4

Probably why. Don't know how true it Is but I read the body craves sugar when you stop alcohol.
It's common. (So is excessive coffee drinking, just from observation.) I did some even though I never drank anything sweet or with meaningful residual sugar. I think it's about it being a good alternative for self-comfort and that kind of thing. For me, when I quit, I didn't want to be too strict on myself about food, although part of that was that I was actually super disciplined about food when drinking for the most part.
I don't think it's exactly the body craving it, but the mind, but who knows or it's probably the same basic thing.1 -
There's resouces on the interweb on how to deal with sugar cravings after quitting alcohol, I found one under hipsober, but do a search and there will be others.1
