I’m a bit confused

Today I was entering some ingredients into my food diary. I selected 1tbsp of crumbled feta cheese and it said it was over 10,000 kilojoules and yet before I changed the serving size it said it was only 1,600 for a whole cup??? A tbsp is significantly less than a cup and yet 9x more kilojoules??? It makes me wonder how many other things are wrong on here. Anyone else find similar problems?

That entry is one of the most egregious. Just verify against packaging or the USDA online database when you can. The trade-off for allowing user to put in new foods is that errors creep in sometimes.

Yup, user created database. You could make a new entry for yourself and not enter it into the overall database, and then just re-reference it from your own list in the future.

You can take a photo of the barcode on an item and it will automatically log your item. For example: On your phone when you pull up your diary in MFP there is a barcode in the upper right corner. Click it and hold the camera over the barcode of whatever item you are wanting to log. It will automatically pull it up. Then enter the amount you want.

But barcode scanning does not guarantee that the entry it leads to, is correct. You still have to verify it, yourself.

I typically scan what I eat, or look for the green check next to the item.

As above re scanning, and the green check is in no way a guarantee of correctness.

Manufacturers will keep the SKU (barcode) the same for a product name, no matter how many changes to serving size, nutrition makeup, ect.

I'm not even sure how MFP corrects those specific entries now.

If you see new and improved - forget the bar code scanner - just search for entry another user has probably corrected already.

Part of the problem, as the forums highlight - people don't search, or don't know how to search well.
So they just end up creating their own entry. MFP attempts to help by blocking when the name is similar, but does little for people intent on not looking at prior entries.

Also, not everything with a scan bar is in the database. I had to add something over the weekend because it was not in the system.

I've seen a lot of errors there. A specific vegetable always comes up as chocolate
