Breast implants after weight loss...anyone?? :(

So im only 25...but losing 1/3rd of my body weight has left my once big boobies into deflated versions of their former selves :( i busted my butt to get to where I am only to now feel just as bad about a new problem with my body...*sigh*

Does anyone here have implants? Are you happy with your decision?
I hate to admit it, but the taboo still scares me...like people will look down on me for having "fake" boobs...but the way they look now when i bend forward almost makes me wanna cry...the money is also a factor obviously...but I feel it may be worth the cost to finally feel comfortable in my own body.

implants won't make you feel comfortable about your body for long. might wanna try therapy instead and a chat with heidi montag.

OMG! I am so happy to hear someone ask this question in a way that mirrors exactly my own feelings!! :blushing:

(...Well, not that I ever had good boobs...but I had adequate ones and now I look like a pre-pubescent girl!! 32A and it makes me want to cry!!)

I am also scared to take the plunge...money (a big one!), the whole "guys like real boobs" thing, people thinking your cheap, the pain, the fact you have to get them done again every 10 years or so, the fact you can't do chest exercises so well, 6 whole weeks away from working out while you recover, the fact my mum would never forgive me, the fact my auntie had her boobs done and the implants split and she ended up in hospital etc... Yes, it really bothers me and there are so many reasons why not to! But it's not like I'd want to look like Jordan!! I just want a nice handful!! And let's face it - it would make all the hard work really show when you actually had that "to die for figure!"

To be honest, I spent the whole of Sunday afternoon locked in our bathroom crying when my boyfriend - while pouring over an article in the latest issue of Men's Health (with a whole host of naked ladies..."which is the ideal female form?") said which do you look like? And I pointed to one and he laughed and said..."Yeah, the most flat chested one. Hah...most 54% of men prefer real boobs to fake...well not when it's fake or NOTHING!" So really...I'm not getting a lot of support with my body confidence issues and feel like I really could use a helping hand!

I'm sorry I can't help with advice...as I'm in the same situation - but I thought it might help to know you're not alone!!! Please please let me know what you decide (and why!)

Implants may very well make you feel comfortable. I'd recommend maybe talking to a surgeon your regular dr. could recommend, and seeing what they could do. You could get a size that is appropriate for you body, without being very obviously fake. I'd say, whatever the surgeon recommends, probably go at least a half cup-size smaller! It may just be extra skin that is hiding your breasts. Check into that too...

You'll want to consider the breastfeeding issue if you're contemplating having children. Some people really want to nurse their children, and implants MAY alter your ability to do so.

Whatever you decide, make sure you do it because it makes you happy. No one else, and not to fix anything that's "wrong" with your body. It may be an improvement, but it won't "fix" anything! Good luck!

Don't worry about the "taboo". Weigh the pros and cons and really think it out on your own. Talk to someone if you need to, research it, get all the info you possibly can and make an educated decision. If you feel it is for you then go for it. Personally, I'd like to get implants one day too.
  • YES, I have lost weight and in return, I got implants. They were my reward, as I put it. You don't need therapy for god's sake, you just want all your hard work to "pay off",and I understand totally. I would say that if you can keep the weight off for 1 year, then reward yourself. Great Job!

Wear a good bra with chicken fillets in for a while, if you then feel happy with how you look and don't just shift your worries onto another issue then I'd consider going for it. If you do decide to go for it have your consultation and then wear the recommended bra size stuffed with whatever fora while to see if that size really does suit you.

You have to do what makes you happy but do make sure that what you do actually does make you happy not just shifts insecurities elsewhere

Ok, so now you get implants, next year you get "perfect" breasts but you'll think your cheeks are ugly too so you undergo surgery and fix the "problem". But then you realize that you don't like your nose, OMG new surgery... hopefully either you or your daddy are very rich.

    Not really.... No.

I used to be quite against plastic surgery for myself... until I realised that I would never be happy with my body until I got myself changed and now I understand how important it can be to help with your self esteem.

I haven't had a boob job yet but am currently saving for one. I don't think there's anything wrong with it, especially with the best intentions. My breasts were a DD when I started out and are now a B, they're just a shadow of their former self and although still pert, when I bend, I resemble a 80yr old who's breastfed 3 kids. So yeah, if I want to be comfortable with myself, i'm going to do it.

Of course, I have a twisted chest that used to be hidden by boobs and now isn't, so need to go to a specialist to get it sorted... have been quoted £8-9000!!! But i'm enthusiastically saving and hope to have it some time next year!!

    Wow...Very negative don't ya think?

Whatever you decide, be sure it is for you, not to make someone else happy. I was never overly endowed when I was at normal weight, so I suspect when I get back there, I'll be less than perfect dimensions. However, at 70 that will be easier to live with. At least I can be thankful I have them and haven't lost one to cancer as my mother did. My 21 year old granddaughter just had implants and was in quite a lot of pain for about 3 or 4 days. I didn't think she needed it done, but she feels good about her decision. I understand it costs about $4000. in our area. Discuss all the pros and cons with a few people who have been through the process. Good luck with whatever decision you make!

I just have to point out the humor in the quote on your page- "loving myself for once"
It's pretty obvious that you don't or you wouldn't want to change what you've been given.
Happiness in life is about more than two sacks of fat on your chest.

I didnt have much weight to lose but I did go from a 34c to a 32a and at 30 I felt more like a boy than a woman so I got them done, and it was the best thing that I ever did. That was about 7 years ago now, and never ever regretted it. Just make sure that if you do go through with it find the best surgeon, do a lot of research. Message me if you like. x

I have gotten them...one of the best things aside from losing weight Ive ever done. You wont have to have surgery every ten years...they do tell you that you MAY have to have surgery again. I know someone that had them done 20 years ago and no other surgery has been needed.I work in surgery, very physical, lifting heavy trays of instruments every day. I couldnt do that for about 8 weeks. You will be able to lift again eventually. Mine are under the muscle, which means I can make them "bounce" if I want to by flexing...very comical if you ask me. Mine are very soft you would not be able to tell if they were real or not by looking at me. My big thing was I just wanted something to put in a bathing suit top. I totally agree that it is expensive....but so worth it. Make that your reward. I am VERY happy with mine. PM me if you have any questions.

I've noticed the same thing starting to happen and I've only lost 10 lbs! When I am finally done and successful at keeping it off, is there anything to do to perk them up without surgery? Or will they forever be soggy and saggy?

So one of the things I hear most when I talk about cosmetic surgery is that we should all love the bodies god gave us and not alter them. Well being overweight is altering the body god gave us and by losing weight we are going back to the body god intended us to have. So in that theory getting a boob job is just restoring what you once had and getting a tummy tuck is just restoring your body to what it was supposed to be. Once I reach my goal size and maintain for a year or two, I will get a tummy tuck and a boob job. My body has been up and down the same 70lbs 3 times and I've had two HUGE pregnancies and my boobs went from 36A. To a 40E and now they are a very deflated 36C.

Since guys seem to not understand what we women go through emotionally when our bodies become deflated, look at it this way. One day you have a very girthy 8 inch penis. You gain weight and then you lose weight. Now you have a very skinny 5 incher. Honestly, can you tell me that wouldn't mess with your self esteem????

I breastfed two babies, and at my heaviest was sized at a 40 G. So I'm fully intending on getting these puppies back in the same zipcode when I get to my goal weight. My mom lost 160 pounds and lovingly referred to her breasts as "tube socks with golf balls in the bottom of them." I laugh. But she got over her hesitations and got them surgically "fixed" and is much happier that she did.
All the bs about "you obviously don't love your body and you'll get surgery for every little thing for the rest of your life and you're shallow and blah blah blah" is silly.
It's your body babe. And it's nobody's decision but yours. You think fresh tatas are gonna make you feel better? Then go and get yourself some fresh tatas.

Despite some of the rather ***** comments on here...

Do what's best for you. You are the only person that can make the decision. Advice is simply that and can't make it for you. Have a consultation and go from there.

After nursing 2 kids and yo-yo'ing 100 lbs twice, by the time I got in a good place, my mid section was pitiful!!! I hated the way I looked after the 110 lbs loss and that is bad! Yes, I looked fine in clothes, but so embarrassed in a bathing suit and just looking at myself naked!! I couldn't wear cute strapless clothes b/c my boobs like dropped to my belly button!! YES!! I got boobs and a tummy tuck and it was the BEST thing I ever did!! I have kept my 100 lbs loss now for over 3 yrs.....I still have loose skin on my legs, but I think that is the way I am going to have to deal with it!!

Do what is best for you and screw what other people say!! Yes, I do get negative statements from what I did, but I feel so much better about myself and my body. Most people are just jealous when the say mean things!!

Good luck and DIG DEEPER!!!
  • Hi
I've had surgery 10 years ago and if I had to do it again I would anytime... so if you have the money and you really want to do it well I say DO IT..... Just want to mention that I had a A cup and now have a C cup.
If you don't have money, I guess my daughters take after me and have a A cup, they are 19 and we ordered this http://www.bustfuel.com/, don't know if this really works, but we did make a couple of reaches and well it's worth a try for the price. So maybe you can try this before having surgery and it's less expensive!
P.S.: I agree with lauristewart, you will get negative statements and most of all JEALOUS PEOPLE, but like she said, SCREW them hahahahahaa, what is most important is for YOU to feel good about yourself.

I'm surprised (well not really) to see such negative comments about this. Just because one wants to enhance one body part does NOT mean they hate their body or that they will become addicted to surgery and become Heidi Montag. Judgemental much?
Look into it, talk to a few surgeons, and make the decision that feels good to you. Don't give a soda about what other people thing  I know a lot of women ( I belong to another website of moms) who have had their breast done (and nothing else BTW) and they are SO happy they did. Not one person I *know* regrets getting their breast done. But again, you need to make the right decision for you! :flowerforyou:

I agree with Dizzieferg, my mother and sister both had their breast enhanced well my sister did but my mom got a lift. If it makes you more comfortable with yourself than do it.

I am neither for or against implants - do what you think is right for you.

But PLEASE consider first whether you plan on breastfeeding babies in the future - and if you do, wait til you're done with the babies.

A lot of women successfully BF with implants - but what if you're not one of them? It would be a real shame not to be able to feed your babies as nature intended. So if you think you might - I would caution you to wait.

Trust me - it's worth it! (And you'll have big cans while you're pregnant and nursing any way!)

i have known many women who have had breast implants (and reductions) and most if not all of them were/are very happy with their decisions. if you feel if will help your self-esteem, then go for it. just research your surgeon faithfully and go for a size you think you can be happy with for many years. it's not a bad thing... ignore all the negativity.

Luckily mine have not gotten smaller since losing 38lbs. BUT I did have a more than a WHOLE cup size difference I didnt know about and it that bothers me (left is big C right DD). After I lose what I feel comfortable losing and I will get my breasts fixed so they are the same size. When I lift I focus alot on upper body to TRY and help the sagging problem. I don't know if that will work but I'm doing it

Do what you are comfortable with. After accomplishing your goal weight I don't see anything wrong with rewarding yourself a little. Good Luck!
