I originally lost 60lbs, I maintained that for over a year, at Christmas I gained 6lbs. People kept saying it was water weight, I'd loss it quickly. Just this week I have lost 1lb since, thats with religiously tracking everything and eating 1500 cals per day. I don't recall weightloss being this slow previously thats with me doing everything the same as I'm doing now, I'd usually loss 2-3lbs per week at 1500 cals. Don't get me wrong I am well within my healthy BMI range but the aim is to get bodyfat down.

If it's only 6 pounds you have to lose, and it's not all water weight, it's going to come off slow. The days of 2-3lb losses are long gone. If it's water weight you may eventually have a whoosh and see it suddenly drop, but otherwise you're in for the long haul - but already 1lb down, so that's a good start.7

I didn’t think it was possible to gain 6lb in the space of a week. I think I’ve proved it is considering how long it’s taking to shift.2

without seeing your diary, all any of us can tell you is that you are likely eating more than you THINK you are. if you are not using a SCALE to measure foods, and using the correct database entry, its easy to do.0

i can tell you just by looking at the entry for today that you're not using a scale for everything. 1 apple. 3 biscuits, 1 slice of bread, 1 cup of soup, 1 small banana, etc

Please. Do you weigh a biscuit? You scan the barcode. Same for bread etc9

It's only been a week since you last posted about not losing. I'd think at this point your cortisol is through the roof from stress and so you are still retaining water. You are consistently your own worst enemy throughout the process.12

Water retention can cause significant weight gain depending on its cause.0 -

You just contradict yourself here. Heck yes you weigh the biscuit. And the bread. And the apple. Etc.
The barcode scanner usually picks a correct database entry, but not always. Even when it does, the official serving size may be significantly less than the item in the package.
Individually wrapped items can especially over the net weight shown on the package, sometimes by 10-20%. This is because the net weight is a legal minimum for the for package unrelated to the requirements for the nutrition label. If I'm unable to weigh the item (like when out of the house) I may log 1.1 or 1.2 servings of that item to allow for the overfill that I usually see.6 -

No. But I'm also not having a problem losing. If I were, you bet your touche I'd weight everything on a scale, to the gram. Having lost 100+ pounds, I'm pretty sure I know what I'm talking about. But if you want to live in denial, go right ahead.10 -
package estimates can be up to 20% off.
just sayin.
that can wipe a deficit out if youre doing it for everything. which... it seems you are.1 -
I weigh all biscuits and see if the total weight corresponds to the weight on the package and check the data base entry for acuracy. This way I only have to do it once for a whole pack. Then I weigh the next again. I also do this with bread. Saves me lots of time2

I am in a daily 600 calorie deficit though0 -
You're not logging every day.
You could easily be wiping out your deficit those days combined with using the packaging instead of weighing.6 -
It definately takes a lot longer to lose 6lbs than put it on unfortunately (you really celebrated Christmas well didn't ya ). but at least yours is going now even if it is slow.
Keep on going.
It's strange how you arent losing more on 1500 saying you're a guy.. (I would lose 1lb a week if I ate that low and I'm a short woman)

so far this week you have eaten gross 1100, 1200 and 1300 cals. really?!
why are you eating so little? given your history of threads on here for the past year there's a fairly good chance of adaptive thermogenesis.
or, looking at your diary, you're not accurate with your logging...
rice is always exactly 60g? veg is always exactly 100g? chips are exactly 100g? a scoop of protein is always exactly 27g?

Yes really, why would I lie? I have been very strict with myself because I fear getting fat again. I don’t think I’ll ever shift that fear. Once I saw 6lbs on after Xmas it was panic stations and the diet began.
Yes the like a rice veg is always weighed as I have no way of judging otherwise.
Adaptive thermogenesis I take is something to do with metabolism lowering? Would probably why I can gain weight easily when eating very little.3 -

generally people aren't logging incorrectly to be deceitful, but its human nature to underestimate what we eat and over estimate our calorie burn and its easy to forget a bite of this or a mouthful of that...
the fact is though if you really were only eating gross 1200 cals, with 700 cal plus burns the weight would be falling off you... even if you had managed to damage your metabolism... so you need to think about what you actually need to do next to start seeing the results you want.5 -
Weigh everything. Bread was a killer for me itd say it was like 50grams and it really weighed 65-75g pretty consistently....An extra 50ish calories ....Grab 2 and your already up 100 calories you wouldnt know to count. Made me sad lol6

A question from sheep to goat: Looking through your diary I also wonder if you never use oil for cooking. That really packs in calories, even if it's just a teaspoon.2
-
Just stick with it! I'm sure it will come off. Also, I have had times that I wasn't eaitng enough and hence wasn't losing weight. That could possibly be your problem too. Keep up the good work!6

A couple of thoughts...
1,100, 1,200, and 1,300 calories for a day is extremely low. You could be causing a significant slowing of your metabolism by eating so little, assuming you are logging reasonably accurate.
Are you on an exercise program? If not, I would start working in some cardio and strength training a few times a week.
Make sure you are counting the little things as well. I personally wasn't counting BBQ sauce on burger, butter spray on bagels, coffee, a little ketchup, etc. I have since started counting these things this week, and realized I was consuming 100 calories a day more than I thought I was.
Let your weight loss be your guide. If you are not losing, or loosing very slowly, then either A) you are eating more than you think, eating too little and slowing down your metabolism, or C) not exercising enough.
Best of luck.0 -
Also, one thing I recommend is actually calculating your BMR, TDEE, and from there, subtracting the necessary calorie deficit needed for loss.0

Right folks an update. I am finally back to my pre Christmas weight but the worrying thing a the struggle it took to get here.
As was mentioned I was eating 1500 cals daily and nothing happened. I then dropped further to 1300 and the weight cane of but as I say it was a struggle. My bmr should be 1800. I had to up my gym session to 6 days per week and I average 14000 steps per day on Fitbit so I am an active guy. My TDEE should be around 2600 but I know myself it’s no where near it.
I didn’t make a complete gorge of myself over Christmas and gained 6lb of fat easily.
My bmr is totally out of whack. I want to drop more weight due to high body fat but can’t continue on 1300 cals, I am constantly starving.0 -
I weigh my biscuits. I weigh mayonnaise too - my partner thinks I'm crazy but a teaspoon to me and a teaspoon to him is very different. It's not daily because I have different goals but if I'm measuring, I'm measuring everything.0

Dave your definitions of speed and mine are very far apart.
You didn't move from 1500 and not losing to 1300 and losing 1.5lbs a week, because 200 Cal a day does not get you 1.5lbs!
If you believe you lost 6 lbs in January, you lost at a rate of 1.5lbs a week, or an effective deficit of 750 Cal a day.
Which is too much and too fast for a normal weight guy who should have set out to lose that weight at about 1/3 that speed.
You can keep trying to push your body into doing things fast while you continue to be, let's call it extremely disciplined, or you can look into being a bit easier on yourself so that you can achieve your goals with less... agitation.
Only you know if this current level of intensity is long term sustainable for you.

Wow that is LOW for a guy! not sure how you have the energy to do those 14k steps on that little calories. Have you been persistently eating low cal for a long time? and therefore could have messed up your BMR?
Have you had bloods taken? to maybe rule out something else.
@PAV8888 has made a stellar point. 750 cal deficit a day is too much when you don't need to lose much.

are you doing any lifting at the gym yet OP?1

So you have been all over the forums for a couple of years I think it is now bemoaning your lack of muscle and yet here you are once again doing everything in your power to obliterate what do you have.
Everything you do is always counterproductive to your goals.5 -
