Got off my lazy bum and busted it out to make this months goal. While im sure the blister on my toe would have appreciated a break, my mind had the will power to get it done.

A short 7.19 km run to end the month. My legs were heavy and complaining right from the first step. Might have some thing to do with the 2.5 km of Endurance Threshold Swimming with the Adult Swim Club last night.
Didn't get near my goal this month. Brutally cold weather and a Downhill Ski Trip knocked to many days out of the calendar.
On to February, and I start with a few days of Mini-Taper before my 10km Chilly Willy Event on Sunday.
The good part is a lot of people stay home for the Big NFL Game so it's easier to get a Podium spot. I have been struggling the last 3 months so this is a run just to finish and don't get injured.

Well - I didn't quite meet my mileage goal this month (even after lowering it last week). I don't consider it a failure though, because I have never actually set out to do any serious distance training before and didn't have a clue where to start with mileage or training plans. 3 miles away is not bad - in fact, I think I'll do a 3 mile run early tomorrow morning just so I can feel better about finishing it off (even though the challenge will technically be over). I definitely learned a ton over this month. Some important things that I've taken away from my experiences:
1. Running on a treadmill is BORING, having the right music playlist or podcast makes a huge difference.
2. Fartleks, intervals, and tempo runs are a great way to mix things up and increase speed.
3. Proper running and breathing form will help you run so much farther without getting nearly as tired.
4. Rest days are really important.
5. Foam rolling makes a HUGE difference in reducing pain and soreness.
All things considered, I think that this month of running was a huge success! Everyone who participated in this challenge did an awesome job - whether or not they met their mileage goal - because they went out and decided to try their best! Great work everyone!

Yesterday evening's run was the perfect way to finish the month. 7.7 miles of beautiful moonlit running in 40 degree temps. The last 1.5 was with Stella. I was hoping she could hang on for another 0.3 miles, but she was way too distracted by some prime sniffing opportunities in the woods near my house. Finished the month with 142.5/120.8 -
Woo woo! My goal was 60mi and I hit 66.5mi. I finished the month off with some nice runs in San Diego while on a work trip and did 10x100 stair runs at the SD Convention Center between a 7mi run. And now on to... February!14

Sorry, I haven't been on here in a while (not even able to just read what everyone's doing). I'm going to try to keep up in February. I've let a lot of things slip (tracking food, yoga, boot camp, lifting) but I have been able to get out running everyday though. I've been loosely following the BAA Level 4 training plan with a goal time of 3:11:00 to try to qualify for Boston. My goal marathon is One City 3/4/18 with a possible back-up Run for the Red (Pocono) 5/20/18. I Just got done with my second marathon, Charleston (3:23:33). I know that's a big jump to 3:11:00. I didn't set a goal for January but I ended up with 198.9 miles. I know that'll drive some of you nerds crazy. I'm going to go to the February thread to set my goal. Hopefully catch up with you all soon!

Wrapped up the Month 56/50 miles for Jan! Wohoo..!!!

My planned run last night would have put me over 100 miles for January. Unfortunately that didn't happen.
It appears I'm coming down with something and by the time I got home I was feeling rather *kitten*. I decided that my body needed rest and sleep more than a run. It was also glute night and I didn't want a run to tire me out so much I didn't work the glutes.
What really made me regret missing the run is that about the time I would have been running, it was 25F and snowing big, puffy flakes. This is my ideal running conditions
I ended up with about 94 miles for the month. I'm planning on running tonight even if I still feel like crap, even if just a few miles.9 -

Really wanted to add to this last night, but I was in a car accident, and spent 3 hours getting tires off my old vehicle and on to my new one, so this is my final count for January. I am ok by the way, Ive lived in Montana my whole life and have never hit a patch of ice that slippery, I was driving straight and slow and suddenly started fishtailing, tried straightening out and ended up hitting a guard rail then I looked out the window facing where I came from and a car hit that patched and fish tailed, but was able to gain control, then a truck hit it and spun out, barely missed the guard rail and ended up off the road in a field, and I have studded tires, so it was really slick. My neck is sore and I had a 5 gallon jug of water on my passenger seat that hit my arm, so my arm hurts, but thats it, I should be good for a run tonight.13 -
Oh no, the thread is ending in some bad news
@7lenny7 hope you feel better soon. Sorry you had to miss a nice snowflake-filled run.
@angmarie28 so sorry to hear about your car accident! I hope your neck and arm are ok. Did you get checked out? So scary to lose control on ice like that.2 -

This is an old thread, and everyone is now posting in the April challenge thread, so you may want to ask there in order to see if anyone is interested.
