About to Get Sick - WHAT CAN I DO?!

Everyone knows the feeling..you wake up with a sort of stuffy nose, a sort of scratchy throat and you know that the sickness that's been going around is about to take hold of you.

Usually, I take some extra vitamin C, drink tons of water and hope for the best. But this weekend is the biggest football game of my entire life (GO EAGLES) and I can not be sick for it. Does anyone have any tips or tricks that help them feel better when the *pre-sick* feels get to them? A tea? A salt water gargle? I'll try anything honestly.

Figured this would be a good post to make since it's that time of year anyway!

Note: I take a multi-vitamin, vitamin C, fiber and CLA daily. Not in a deficit but weight training and cardio 5-7 days x week.

This might sound crazy but my son got the flu last weekend and I was so worried about getting it. My grandmother suggested taking elderberry syrup a couple times a day. I thought she was crazy but I did it and had my husband do it. The flu passed us right by and we didn’t get sick. I can’t definitively say it works but a lot of people swear by it.

Keep calm, take it easy, get your sleep, drink water, take your vitamins and don't go too crazy with your calorie deficit. Good luck!

We routinely take vitamin C, zinc, and a multi to ward off colds. Recently added in vitamin D to help avoid flu. I've also heard of elderberry syrup helping.

I do also wonder if eating at maintenance and not working out like crazy would help. Does anyone know if a calorie deficit over time makes you more susceptible to contagious illnesses?

Oh, I eat at maintenance, not a deficit. Interesting to think about though - could be possible that a deficit could weaken the immune system.

Vitamin D and elderberry syrup! Definitely trying both of these!

I eat at maintenance, so that isn't an issue. But I did let myself sleep in a little extra today - figured it couldn't hurt. And drinking tons and tons of water! And *crossing my fingers* for good measure LOL
