Without taking running into account, I average about 9.5k2

My current 28 day avg is 13,943 per day.2

8000-10000 steps a day! What about you? Not sure if that is a good goal or not.2

I do about 8,000 steps a day.3

I was averaging about 7500. Now my iPhone doesn’t fit in my pocket so it says like 200. I need a fitbit3

About 7,000-8,000 on average during the week. I sit at a computer all day so if I don't get a workout in I only get about 4,000-5,000. I aim for over 10,000 on the weekends.4

10000 is good to start with, then you can slowly work your way up to 15000 or more. I also wear the tracker when I am on the elliptical machine and it counts those as steps too.1

Between 10,000-15,0002

Anything is better than sedentary. I used to be a couch potato, and I've become incredibly antsy. I get a ridiculous amount of steps, most lately because I'm incredibly cold and walk a lot on my treadmill to warm up. I've been getting 30K a day.10

Wow 30k a day is awesome and seems unachievable to me. That should really help with weight loss or toning.5 -
Not including working out? Only 3000-4000. I try to get to 10k when I work out.4

20 0001

I've only had my phone to record which doesn't count everything ....totals to around 4-5k daily. I am purchasing a fitbit today so I can accurately track everything4

You could...but it could also be more efficient to add in some moderate to high intensity exercise.
I don't get many steps with my desk job...around 5K-6K and I don't really shoot for more...it is a more efficient use of my time and better for my overall fitness to do deliberate, higher intensity exercise...mostly cycling and lifting.3 -

Thanks! I'm short and older and relatively light already. What all that walking does do is give me a very decent calorie allowance. A lot of women my age, height, and weight have very few calories they can eat. Less so if they're trying to lose weight (as I'm doing with a few vanity pounds). I can comfortably eat quite a few calories and still lose. My TDEE is around 2400.
The thing is that the moderate intensity walking I do is best suited to me and my particular health needs. Higher intensity exercise triggers migraines for me. I have the time to devote to this and the energy, so I don't have an issue with doing it. I don't think this is an ideal goal for most people, though.

Oh yeah I also do hiit at least 4x a week1 -
@GottaBurnEmAll
Hmm you mention migraines. I’m older (42) and 192 lb. I’m wondering now if my own nightly migraines have anything to do with HIT exercise. Doctors haven’t been able to diagnose. Nothing serious but just small headaches without a root cause that come and go!
