Hahah I love this thread! My husband and two daughters and I are all nerds. I actually am ramping up my weight loss goals because I want to lose the stingy 22lbs to my goal weight as well as tighten up before Comic-con this year! My oldest daughter wants her sister to be Midna while she wants to be Zelda and she has told my husband and I that we are to be the Joker and Harley Quinn. I am all for geeking out but I would like to feel more confident in the costume this year than I did last year.1

That's cool, I love family costumes, last year there was a star wars family and a very cute Police Woman Amy Pond, Gladiator Rory and a baby Doctor in trench coat and sneakers.

Hey guys! Just saw this thread and actually read through all 15 pages, heh.
I subscribe to a lot of the geekdoms mentioned on here.
Favorite book series is the urban fantasy series The Iron Druid Chronicles. If you have any interest in different old pantheons (especially the Celtic, Norse, Greek, and Roman pantheons) you should check it out. I highly recommended checking it out via audiobook, though... the narration is fantastic. I'm also a big LotR/Hobbit fan (and recovering LotRO addict). I mean, look at my username...
TV - Dr Who, Sleepy Hollow, Vikings, Vampire Diaries, Constantine (RIP, but is this where I name-drop and say that my high school crush is (was?) the stunt double for John Constantine?), True Blood, Big Bang Theory, etc.
I have my bucket list set up like a video game. Every time I knock something off of it I get XP
I'd love to cosplay but I've always been too big to feel comfortable, so that's a goal of mine. I'm also a big soccer/football fan!
Feel free to add me. I'm making a return after a hiatus and gaining most of my weight back I can use all of the support I can get.0 -
Definitely a geek. Fandoms past and present include: Alias, Angel, Buffy, Roswell, The Walking Dead, Teen Wolf, Supernatural, Smallville, Joan of Arcadia, The X-Files.
Feel free to friend me if you'd like!0 -
I've been using MFP for quite a while, but never really posted anything in the forums... until now!
Happy to see geeks united here!
In no particular order, my fandoms/loves include: Doctor Who (ok, maybe a little bit of order ), Star Wars, Sherlock, Tolkien, Neil Gaiman, Robert Jordan (Wheel of Time, for now), Terry Pratchett, Sleepy Hollow, Battlestar Galactica,The Matrix (1st movie, mostly), Game of Thrones, The IT Crowd, Metal music (mainly prog and technical, for added nerdiness, and I do like non-metal genres too), Gaming (used to play MMORPGs, such as Guild Wars, 9Dragons, Lineage2, but now I don't have as much time, so I'll just play Dragon Age, Mass Effect series, Assassin's Creed, Skyrim or anything of the sort, when I do have time to spare), some anime, fantasy fairs (I'd actually love to do Steampunk costumes, in the future) and actual IT stuff (like web design/development).
Feel free to add me! I'll be happy to make some friends around here.0 -

I live in the Barony of Stargate in Kingdom of Ansteorra. In Stargate, I go to their rapier practises.
Even though I live in Stargate I also go to the Barony of Loch-Soilleir's Art& Sciences events and Rapier practices too.
I was wondering if there was anyone here that's with the SCA?0 -
I like to watch Anime, read manga and manhwa, watch any kind of fantasy - superhero show or movie that I can get a hold of. I love cosplay and players. I love horror films but most of my lore is in the 80's....Freddy, Jason, Pinhead etc. I liked saw, but not into torture porn. I have about 17 series of anime going at a time, and over 30 manga/manhwa titles. I watch all the T.V. series containing Super-Heroes and myths like Grimm. I love to cosplay. Feel fee to friend me. I am very active here and most of my posts are about the Geeky.

I think all Whovians here can agree with that!
I love this thread. Im a Whovian, Browncoat, Whedonite (I've seen nearly everything by Whedon and love them ALL), Sherlocian, Trekkie, Nathan Fillion fangirl, and huge Marvel fangirl (both the comics and movies)...and those are just the most popular of the fandoms I'm in. Lol.0 -
Hooray! SO GLAD I did a search for 'Browncoat!" Just got back into MFP two days ago and trying to get serious about my necessary-for-my-health-but-really-cosplay-motivates-me weight loss. Nerdy 53 yo mom of two nerdy teens. So happy to find my people! Is there an MFP nerdy 'group' in the MFP community? (I don't even really know what that means.) Looking for fellow nerd friends, so please friend me if you're interested! I'm just outside of Fayetteville, NC. ~No power in the 'verse can stop us!!!0

Yas! All the nerds and geeks!
I'm a Potterhead, Ilvermornian, academic, SNES player, and otaku (seriously love some anime and manga, and when I get more time, cosplay, which I should now that I've just finished the PhD)!
@Cindyisoutofexcuses lots of geek/nerdy groups in the MFP community. My favorite is the Ilvermorny challenge which is actually starting up soon for those Potterhead nerds: http://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/discussion/comment/41331797#Comment_41331797
I've also seen the amazing race on here, HP WL challenge, and GoT. If you move over to Facebook, there's always the Hogwarts Running Club with the sister clubs for Gilmore Girls and Dr. Who.1 -
holy necro thread- @Cindyisoutofexcuses - this thread is from july 2015- so might be a little rusty.
Maybe start you're own new thread?
Also- check nerdfitness.com- the actual page is spammy- but the community is good if you can find it LOL0 -
Hello! Can I come from a broad sci fi fandom? My eldest is called Aeryn-Rose..1

I used to be solely a Book Nerd {Harry Potter is my life}, but after meeting my husband I now own all the consoles and handhelds that exist. I PC game with him, watch anime and even have a weekly D&D campaign. {I am a Dwarven Druid}. My husband is always having me watch his games and root for his friends on Twitch. So I guess really I am just Nerd Adjacent. But still, you all are my peeps, I love's ya's and so yeah, be my friend? lets do this nerd style!; efficient, accurate, and with aplomb. Oh also I do Data Analysis... because I literally love Data and everything that normal people think is boring. like creating charts, color coding spreadsheets, creating spreadsheets, auditing data to find inaccuracies and generally just making sure my desk is in perfect order. sooo yeahhh. maybe I am in the wrong group; where is the group for Freaks??1
-
@MrsMary23 My guy does the same thing on watching his games - and I help him figure out the puzzles (and sometimes League on Twitch).
You are so in the right place on the data analyses. One of my nicknames is BAMF because of my spreadsheet skills ^.^; and then I learned Matlab which made big data easier. There was a funny comic from Hogwarts Running Club on pie charts and graphs that I wish I had access to...1 -

A little too into it lol supernatural is amazing, the hobbit trilogy is probably my favorite movies ever and I also love lord of the rings! maybe I'm nerdier than I realized hahaha my husband always laughs cause I like video games more than he does.0

I'm a bit of a nerd, myself. I'm obsessed with Legend of Zelda games, I love anything Nintendo, and I've recently gotten really into PS4. I love Steven Universe, Doctor Who, I'll be getting into D&D soon, etc!0

Does anybody use their Xbox and Kinect for workouts? Looks like there are a few games that could be fun but also give you a workout. Might be something I'd try when I get sick of my current program.0
