Totally agree. Such a bummer. I am not going to look at my 401k or my few stocks, I am not going to look at my 401k or my few stocks, I am not going to look at my 401k or my few stocks, I am not going to look....... I have to keep telling myself. Of course I would never bail out, but I don't want the disappointment of seeing the drops in funds.

LOL, not this time. The pres has done all sorts of sidestepping of congress. Not only the pres though, we need to throw all of them out. They are supposed to be CIVIL SERVANTS. They should not be paid any better than any middle class working stiff.

This has been a long time coming, and isn't something that just happened due to our current office.

You got that right! The whole bunch of them need a lesson on what the actual working middle class are living off of! Budget cuts - let's talk about their salary, retirement and benefits first!

    Ugh, agreed. Everything's going nuts.

It's like a self-fulfilling prophecy...stock market falls because of fears that the stock market will fall. :grumble:

New president??? If only economics were so simple! Just hold tight, folks - this is a weird season of good news/bad news if you're following international and domestic financial trends, but could be the new normal, hard to say. Maybe we can use the same motto we use for weight loss? We didn't gain the weight overnight, and can't expect to lose it overnight - same for our national debt and continuing credit issues.

Because there hasn't been any OBVIOUS debate on politics yet, I won't lock this topic. But please remember folks, politics are forbidden on the forums. As long as this stays in more of the "civics" area (I.E. what a president's job role is and how congress works) I'm fine with it, but the minute we start talking about one side vs the other this post will be locked and probably removed.

Just wanted to let you guys know so there were no misunderstandings.

    regards,

Lols! I was listening to NPR this morning while I was running. There was a segment about economists going to a retreat over the weekend to unwind. Two of them were making a bet based on how much the Dow would fall come Monday's closing bell. The main bet was 1,000 dollars donated to a charity if the Dow tanked 300+ points.

As you can imagine, I ran a little faster this morning.

    Our leaders seem to be:

    (endlessly) RUNNING for office
(not) WORKING OUT the real problems
(not) TRIMMING THE FAT out of the budget
(no) HEAVY LIFTING when they leave town for "breaks"
LUNGING to the left and right

Just for fun, can we add to this?

I edited the comments that mention a specific politician. Guys you can't talk politics, even a little tiny bit, there's no bending this rule, not even a little.
