I learned in Nutrition class in college ( U of Poo) that it's ideal to have 'footlong floaters' Not literally a footlong, more of just a catchy name, but the footlong floater indicated that there's ample fiber in the diet.
If ya take an occassional glance at the finished product in the toilet, it's a good idea to guage what level it's at on the stool scale.AS it states, the 1st 2 levels indicate constipation, the last 2 indicate die-ah-ree-ahh. Sorry, can't spell it, don't even want to.

Poop that floats has a lot of fat in it ... try to get more fiber in your diet.
At least that's what they taught us in nursing school.0 -
last time i tried it sunk, but then they had to close down the public pool for a couple of days so i haven't tried it since.

I used to share an office with a nurse who worked for the continence foundation.
She said you should have "fluffy floaters" not "stinky sinkers".
Mind you she also set up an advertising campaign where they had ads on buses saying "do you have a wee problem"0 -
Dr. Oz says that if your poop floats then it full of the fatty stuff that you ate!
Ding Ding Ding, we have a winner !0 -
I had a really funny picture with someone sticking their head up their *ss, but couldn't get it to paste. Darn !

Now that we've figured out the float or not conundrum, I'm curious about the color. Which shade of poo is the best?0

For all of you people complaining that the original poster didn't go to google...apparently you all didn't go to google, either, because you'd obviously see that there are so many different articles, ranging from the toilet humor (pun totally intended) to the educational to the downright creepy. And they're all conflicting.
Personally, I've heard that if it floats all the time, you may have a medical issue. As for the fiber thing, I've heard from multiple people, and now after looking at multiple sites, everyone will tell you something different. Some say if it floats, you need more fiber...while others say if it sinks, you need more fiber.
I'm convinced no one knows, at this point, haha.0 -
 Best ever thread!!!! This totally made my day!!! :laugh:0
