Hi All,
Plan to do 40 days of fitness (30 mins everyday) for the duration of Lent instead of giving up the usual suspects. Before pictures to follow. Please add me of you fancy an accountability buddy or want to join in.

Is this some kind of sacrifice or punishment? I don't do the Lent thing and it wasn't part of my upbringing so never quite understood the purpose .12

Sounds good! I will look at it like giving up 30 minutes of inactivity.

So why comment? I read a lot of these bs negative lent or whatever posts all day. So annoying.
OP great idea! I plan on committing to doing something similar. Hopefully after 40 days it becomes good habit. Good luck!

Just wait for everyone to start questioning your religious motives and woo you like I had been yesterday lol
So much negativity and judgemental attitude here sometimes from grown *kitten* people it's just silly.

PS I wonder if wooers yell "Wooooo " everytime they press a button15 -

I'm in. I'm usually pretty consistent during the week, but tend to slack off on the weekends. A good way to hold myself accountable.0

The purpose of Lent is the preparation of the believer for Easter through prayer, doing penance, mortifying the flesh, repentance of sins, almsgiving, and self-denial.

I chose to participate, not due to religion but the principal & that's to change something temporarily, with the hope that it becomes permanent! However without the expectation, of it being a lifestyle change & thus it reduces the pressure, to make any change indefinite!3 -
I am in. Giving up alcohol and engaging in at least 30 minutes of activity a day. Yoga today.0

I am in! I am doing daily morning workouts! 30 minutes a day minimum! I am adding this to my traditional fasting, prayer and almsgiving.0

The point of Lent is to focus on our need to repent and turn ourselves back toward Christ and away from the things of the world, to increase spiritual discipline in preparation for the glory of Easter, when Jesus rose from the dead, conquered death, and opened the gates of Heaven to humanity. One aspect of Lent is fasting, because denying the flesh its appetites can have spiritual benefits, and another is giving up indulgences or adding extra works of charity, discipline, and prayer. This makes it a perfect time to jump start weight loss or exercise, because for many of us it does constitute a sacrifice to find the time and energy among jobs, kids, spouses, school, and all our other obligations. It's also beneficial to take care of our bodies because we only get one, and it is a temple of the Holy Spirit, so we should take good care of it both so that we may live our best life but also out of respect for the One who created it. Some people choose to not eat out at all during Lent, and donate the money saved to food banks, St. Vincent de Paul, crisis pregnancy centers, and other organizations that serve the poor or at risk.
And please, don't bother to try and argue any of this with me. I don't care if you share or agree with my religion. I am only answering the question posted, and am not interested in anyone's opinion of my faith.
PS if you think we Catholics are strict during Lent, check out the Eastern Orthodox! We are PIKERS compared to them! Their Lenten fast is no joke.17 -
I am using Lent to get my chocolate addiction under control. No chocolate candy at all. Is it cheating to have a fiber one bar with chocolate chips?? My Catholic guilt will get the best of me.2

Do you consider chocolate chips to be chocolate candy? I mean, I would . . . but that doesn't mean someone else's definition has to be your definition.1 -

What kind of exercises in particular? Are they home Tabata style, aerobic exercises or what?
I'm afraid to do HIIT tabata exercises everyday because some of the exercises target a variety of muscles that i might want to train during my strength training days and then they just feel sore lol0
