Hello, I'm in my early 40's, and I need to lose (from my starting weight) 220 pounds. Yep, I'm a big girl and ready to lose the weight. I have lost and gained several times, and I am hoping that by going slowly it will stay off this time. Feel free add me!9

Hi, I'm Melissa. I'm 46, will be 47 in June. I have lost 85 pounds so far. I gained 14 back between March and November last year. Had a vertical tummy tuck and arm lift in July and am very anxious to have my thighs done. I got back to being serious in November and have lost 15 pounds since then. My surgeon wants me in the 150s for thighs to be done. My original goal was 165, maybe 160 at the lowest. I was 169.8 this past weekend, so 12-15 pounds left to go. I lift weights and do cardio 5-7 days a week. I'd really like to get this done before summer but not sure how long it will take me to get there. Averaging about 1.25 pounds a week since November 20th. I am eating 13-1400 a day and higher on Sundays to average 15-1600 a day for the week. I like having friends on here but many of mine have gone inactive in the last year. Feel free to add me.7

Just a few thoughts: I am by no means an expert, but I've learnt a few things through the years so, here goes:
1. Forget about losing weight and keeping it off if you don't move your body. But try to do things you like.
2. Set smaller weight loss goals. Start with 2 or 5 or 10lbs. But setting a goal that's too high will work against you and your motivation in the long run.
3. Be kind to yourself. We have bodies and they are amazing things. And you've come this far (40!!!) in life, no matter what you look like. Wow!
That's all5 -

I’ll be 41 in June. I’m at the grossest and highest weight of my life, and I’m pretty discouraged. I’ve always had to work super hard and maintain really strict rules about what I eat in order to keep my weight under control. Unfortunately, a car accident threw a wrench in exercising and medications contributed to even more weight gain. I’ve been back on the strict regime for sixth months now, and not seeing or feeling any results. I figured that 40 would make it harder, but this is beginning to feel impossible.6

I'm 46 - turning 47 in May. I'm the heaviest I have ever been (heavier than when I was 9 months pregnant - ouch). I finally took the courage to step on the scale --- shock!! I have 25 lbs to lose (before next week would be nice thank you).
I am a mother of 7 (blended family - 3 are mine) with 2 grandchildren (hubby's side). My body delights in storing carbs as fat (I think my ancestors lived in the dessert and were used to famines....).
Started this 2 weeks ago and have lost 3 lbs. My struggle is getting into consistent exercise routine for cardio, but mostly to build muscle and metabolism. I hear this is the trick when you reach this age Working in a stressful job as well doesn't help.
I'd love to get into a shape other than apple..
Please feel free to add me. I'd love the encouragement and accountability and would love to do the same!6 -
Oh - and I forgot to add the Menopause Fairy has my number... which isn't really helping.5

45 right here. I joined MFP back in 2013 and lost 30 lbs. Kept it off for three years but my bad habits returned and I gained them back. So here I am again because I know it works. Down 15 pounds and I think I’ll be alright with just a couple more gone. Where I was after losing those 30 pounds was unrealistic to maintain. But MAN these last few pounds are hard!! I’ll say it’s taken me longer this time so I’ve learned to be more patient. Feel free to add me also!2

Well, I'm 47 and have been here for almost 2 years. Lost 52 pounds last year then took a break from it all and gained back 16 pounds. I am working at getting that back off for good and being a healthier fitter Grammy Feel free to add me ladies.2
