Hello,
I'm currently trying to lose weight-I hired a trainer and she gave me macros and workouts. However, I'm not losing ANYTHING. I'm 5ft and about 153lbs. She gave me a calorie count of around 1603-F 55grams C-124grams and P-153.
Any thoughts? Should I go lower since I'm not seeing results?

Your calorie goal is okay - but you have to eat 1603 real, correctly logged, calories, not guesstimated calories, in order to lose weight. You also have to stick to it for several weeks. I wonder how you're handling the macro split, sounds horrible.1

The macros are good. It’s what I do more or less. It’s about 40%P/30%C/30%F which is fine. She might be having you eat at your TDEE so if you are adding your exercise calories on top of that and eating those exercise calories back then you may be eating too much. If you’re eating at TDEE you don’t add your exercise calories to it as they are already included.1

if its a new exercise program - you could also have water weight from inflamation/stress on the body0

If two weeks out, then ovulation can lead to water weight gain just like right before your period. Also you are undergoing changes with strength training and you are going to retain a little water from that as well.
I would stick this out past your monthly cycle and make sure you weigh and log your food every day consistently. If no results, talk to your trainer about the next step as in lower?
How are you doing on 1 gram of protein per your body weight? That sounds difficult.0 -

Because I'm not losing, I dieted hardcore in my early 20s and yo yo dieted the past few years. If it will take longer then I guess I'll just wait it out. I just don't see if it's the correct amount I should be eating why I'm not losing.0 -

I don't know what you mean by "dieted hardcore," but I think a more likely factor is that three weeks is too early to judge. If you open your diary, we may be able to help you find ways to log more accurately. It seems like a good portion of the time when people aren't losing as they expect, the issue is inaccurate logging (resulting in them eating more than they think they are), not their metabolism.0 -
As others stated, three weeks isn't all that long in the grand scheme of things, I would try staying to course for another three weeks and re-evaluate.
That said, I think it's possible you're eating closer to maintenance than one would expect. I'm curious how your trainer arrived at this target for you, did you discuss goals and an expected weight loss rate with your trainer? The macro split at ~40/30/30 isn't out of left field, I typically see 40/40/20 as a "cut" recommendation.
Using a TDEE calculator for your height and weight (guessed age 25, close?) it spits out a TDEE with 'light exercise' at 1871. I've found this activity level for this calculator to fit well to compensate for my exercise, which totals 270 minutes of resistance training weekly (~90 min/session, 3x/week). Any other method for determining calorie burn from exercise I have found to be a gross overestimation. Assuming that's accurate, 1600 only gives you a deficit of just over 0.5lb/week, which could very easily be masked by water retention or even hydration fluctuations.0 -
I'm the same height as you, depending on how active a day I've had, I still don't eat 1600, that's more of a maintenance number for me. 1300 is a good number for me to start with, I usually eat back about 1/2 of my exercise calories each day on top of that. I second what others have said about weighing your food, you'd be surprised how off you can be if just eyeballing a portion. Good luck, keep going, you can do it.0
