Accurate weighing on one foot?

I broke my foot a few weeks ago, had surgery to repair it and can't weight bear for yet another few weeks. Was wondering if you can accurately weigh yourself balancing on one foot on the scale? I'm eating at a lower deficit to accomodate not being able to exercise or move about as I used to and I'm completely fearful of gaining any of the 110 pounds I lost.

it is keeping steady that will be the trick. Yes you can weigh with one foot. Better to stand towards the centre of the scale. If you can just heavily bias the one foot or weigh with crutches and just take the weight of the crutches off might be an idea. like I said it is keeping steady that is the trick.

Is your foot in a cast? You'd have to account for that, then there's the risk of falling off your scale and breaking your good leg, or something else. If it were me, I'd just be super strict with my diary and wait until I could put weight on my other leg.

It might be off by a little, but I can't imagine it making a huge difference. You can just use the one-foot weigh ins as a baseline to help keep on track while you heal, not an actual weight measurement.

depends on the scale. mine, i can weigh accurately with just my left foot, but if i stand on just my right foot, its off by almost 10 pounds. (lighter)

can you have a not-hurt person check quick for you?

and did i mention how much i hate my scale?
  • I just went and weighed myself. All the readings were the same, so it works!

If all else fails, sit on the scale.

No, my foot isn't in a cast. I had surgery and they put a screw into the bone to hold it while it heals and I have to remain non weight bearing. I'm watching my diet closely but I can tell a couple of pounds have crept back on. I'm getting around on crutches and a knee scooter and don't sit much but still, I'm not at the gym and not putting in the 4 miles of walking a day. This truly sucks.

I can relate, after 8 weeks of bronchitis and not being allowed to work out. Whitebalance might have something there. Maybe you could put it on a chair with a flat or flat-ish surface and sit on it!

I had my husband and daughter both weigh themselves normally and then had them each stand on one foot, in the middle and balance there. The reading was the same as standing normally.

    There's your answer!
  • Thank you for all the input because I just tore my ACL and don't know how I'll be able to which myself effectively so thank you.
