Advocare Catalyst or other amino acid

A friend of mine swears by (and sells) Advocare products and recommended me trying their catalyst- which is an amino acid dietary supplement.
I work out 6 days per week - mainly spin, horse riding, TRX and weight lifting.
Curious if anyone here has any experience with catalyst or would recommend something else?

What is it supposed to do for you? Is it caffeinated? Coffee is so much cheaper. I wouldn't touch anything with a 10foot pole with the name Advocare or any MLM company. They will want you to sell their crap.0

Of course your friend swears by it... They're selling it - you're not likely to buy something if they tell you it's rubbish, are you?

I don’t usually disagree on the MLM point and not saying it would need to be Advocare. So I asked if anyone would recommend something else- meaning recommend another amino acid supplement.

Looking to add something to assist with post workout soreness and muscle recovery. Especially if there is something that could help with maintaining muscle while losing weight.
Eat sufficient protein, and do resistance training!

BCAA/Amino supplements are largely overhyped.
That being said, Some of them are caffeinated and have good/interesting flavors for morning hydration/supplementation blending. Personally, I like Amino energy because it's inexpensive and caffeinated and basic as a base for the rest of my supplementation.
Bottom line: Check the ingredient list, check the price, Check Labdoor(for independent verification of ingredients), Check Examine.com for research on what you actually need/want to supplement and what appropriate dosing is.2 -

Awesome- thank you and will do. So far I have not taken any supplements but hear a lot about them (especially BCAA/amino supplements) and it can be difficult to find unbiased information. I’ll check out that site.

Yes to the protein, my macros are usually pretty spot on with some days being higher in fat than others admittedly.
And I have active rest days- those are usually long walks or when I go ride. And I have outstanding sleep habits.
I’m not looking to add some sort of fat burner supplement or anything to suppress my appetite, but I do have questions regarding taking amino acids for muscle recovery and possibly increased endurance0 -

Amino acids are protein - if you're eating sufficient protein, you don't need to supplement1 -

Advocare is a MLM scam, and BCAAs are a complete waste of money. They're another over-hyped supplement with claims that aren't supported by science.
If you're already getting adequate protein intake, you're getting adequate BCAAs because they're in all protein sources. If you're not getting adequate protein intake, BCAAs don't help because they don't contain all the necessary amino acids.

The soreness will reduce as you get more accustomed to exercise, walking or swimming (or other low intensity movement..) helps.
Your muscles will recover in their own good time and a supplement won't change that.
To maintain muscle during a deficit here's the three big ticket items:- Strength/resistance training.
- Moderate to low calorie deficit.
- Adequate to high protein intake.
