Over the past couple of months, I have been struggling with controlling my eating. I have been binge eating approximately 4000-5000 calories daily and obsessively trying to erase the damage by over exercising and eating healthy but relapsing after 2 days. It’s gotten to a point where I feel helpless. My clothes do not fit me anymore and I am constantly feeling helpless. I have prayed, meditated and tried almost everything but nothing seems to work. Someone please help me.

Have you ever tried intermittent fasting? I would do a night binge after eating very well all day. I thought I had to eat every few hours you see, once I found out I could save my calories for when I wanted them I was able to fast during the day to have lots of calories to eat at night when I wanted them. I learned to work with my style of eating instead of against it. Just a thought. Talking to a professional is always a good idea too. You still can't eat 4000-5000 calories though. Also is there anything that triggers your binge eating episodes? My binge episodes were triggered by boredom and my mind just wanting to taste good food. I wasn't a binger because of outside psychological issues I just have a really loud inner fat kid So you gotta ask yourself is it psychological or just having a loud inner fat kid too? If psychological seek help if not maybe try different eating times.10 -
Are you in therapy or seeing some other professional? I struggled with binge eating disorder (and still sometimes struggle) and being in therapy and seeing a psychiatrist has really made a difference. They will help you with your depression and anxiety over your weight and really work with you to get better and feel better emotionally. I strongly recommend making a few phone calls and appointments if you don't already see someone. You are important so take care of yourself8

Yeah this is something you need to be talking to a professional about not soliciting advice from strangers on the internet. I would start with your primary care physician and see if they can't point you to a good person to work through these issues with, or call your insurance to see if they have a doctor in network that may help with these issues.
Good luck!10 -

Oh my dear Lucia (I presume).
You are not alone. You, are, not, alone. I was diagnosed in 2015 with BED and it's not joke, it's a disorder. And you know what ? It CAN be managed. You CAN work your way through this. Why do I know this ? Because I strive for it everyday, and so do many many many of us on here.
I will not claim to know the "recipe" for You. We are all a little different, right ? But I will share a blog that was a game changer for me when I started my journey in Jan 2016.

She is a real person like you and I and she is candid and so generous with her shares. She wrote a Series on Binge Eating and I swear, when I read that, it was like she was in my brain, in my heart.
Take a look...
And I agree with others posters here that reaching out for professional support in this would be a Great Help.
I am well on my weigh to shedding all my excess weight and achieving a manageable maintenance weight and it's happening with a series of imperfect days. Strive for progress, not perfection.
If you'd like to add me as a friend too, please, do.
You are not alone. You are not an alien and you can do this. You can.

Has something changed in your life over the past months to cause this? I'm sorry you're struggling, but finding out WHY this is happening and what is triggering it can be a really good first step.
Talk to someone, change up your routine, don't buy food that you tend to binge on, etc. Staying in the same rut and habit loop will continue to cause you pain and stress so make one or two small changes and see how you can build off of that.3 -
i am sorry for your struggles and please know that you really are not alone. The voice you hear in your head is also in mine and others. I am glad to see the posts from others. I had read that BED is real, however, i was unaware that professional psychiatrist would help with this.
Let MFP family help you with your struggles. From the posts above you can see that you have real positive support here. I for one was glad to you started this thread and that I could read it and what others have said about your situation. It gives me hope that maybe someday I can control my binge eating.1 -
Please see a doctor.4

Stop thinking of food as good or bad. Do not restrict calories. What I did was to keep eating what I wanted until all I wanted was a huge bowl of steamed veggies. I gained weight. A ton of weight in a short amount of time. But I'm beginning to get back into eating just fruits and veggies because that's what my body wants. There is no quick fix to weight loss. This stuff takes time.0
