Elimination Diet

Anyone else doing this? I'm in my first week and I did this diet like 5-6 yrs ago to see if I had any triggers. Sadly I didn't. I'm hoping this time around I will so I know what's been causing my globus sensation all this time.

It's pretty much how my diets go. I've manage to cut down on takeaways to being never having them for past 3 years and sweets for 4 years.
I'm now trying to cut down on chocolate, cake and crisps but find once I cut one out another takes over2 -
Hi! I started an elimination diet and am in my third week now I'm following a course provided by a hospital's immunology department. I've got a range of mild allergies and am still waiting for symptoms to settle down enough to start testing anything.
What sort of food plan are you following?0 -
I'm in my 2nd week.
I'm using this book https://www.amazon.com/Elimination-Diet-Discover-Making-Tired/dp/1455581860 in addition to working with my nutritionist.
How are you feeling so far? I'm doing it to see if my globus sensation changes which I've had for 5-6 years with no clear cause.0 -
how are you tracking?
The book you have looks fantastic, it definitely looks like they've done a lot of research. Have you seen changes yet?
I'm on week 5 now and am still waiting for another bout of hives to settle down! I'm not working with any medical providers on this at the moment but have booked in to see a specialist towards the end of this month to look at all of the unexplained issues. The limited vegetables are starting to drive me insane so I've added in a few extras from the recommended lists I've been provided. Unfortunately I'm still lethargic despite exercising at least 3 times a week. I'd do anything for a real coffee2 -
I did it a couple years ago, guided by a naturopath, to try and find out why my IBS was so bad. I did well on it by focusing on the things I could eat rather than what I couldn't. For me, it turned out to be wheat that was giving me problems. I cut it out for 18 months and it turned things around completely. It isn't the same as allergies or other illness, but it helped me. I hope it works for you as well and you can find the cause. It is hard when you feel unwell much of the time.0

I'm just about to start one again for my IBS, last time i got pretty awesome energy by week 2 so looking forward to that and hopefully figuring out a more long term solution. It's frustrating when things don't seem to get better. Good luck to you all!0

Yeah the book is really great and informative.
I finally started introducing foods and I think I may have corn issue. I'm going to retest is, but I kid you not, I woke up the next day after having corn the night before for dinner (granted it was corn tortillas and tortilla chips, not the best so I will test actual corn later) with my body not feeling rested after getting enough sleep, my lower back hurt and felt tight, I was dragging all day to the point where I almost wanted to nap and felt like I was hit by a truck. It was crazy to feel that way after having so much energy.
During the elimination phase, I was getting really rest, great sleep. Not craving sugar, sustaining my energy all day, no lower back issues, had energy all through my workouts, I looked rested, I felt sooooo gooooood. I think it's made me realize how much food impacts how we feel. It was really eye opening after I had the corn because the next day it made me more empathetic toward people who have food allergies/intolerances/sensitivities and what it must be like living with it. After that, if I have the same reaction when I test it again, I don't want to eat corn ever again. It wasn't worth it to feel like that. It took me about 3-4 days to get back to feeling normal again.
Hmm, are the hives something you've been having on-going before the diet? Are you getting enough sleep? What foods did you take out? The book says if you aren't feeling much of a difference, it may because of what you're eating or not eliminating food. Are you mostly eating whole foods?
I'm tracking on a google doc because I can't be bothered to enter all these foods in MFP.0 -

Thank you! Yes, I'm learning a lot so far. So glad it helped you find that wheat was giving you issues. It's a great diet for those with IBS to find their food triggers.0 -
