Good Morning Petite Nation ! Wishing you a fantastic Sunday . I’m in sunny Los Angeles visiting my dad so I missed the snow in Rhode Island ! Lucky Me ! Well when I arrived here I killed steps , the first day walking almost10 miles & then it’s been trickling down . I’ve been doing a lot of things for my dad , a lot of driving him places , setting up the internet . This trip he’s keeping me on a tiny tiny leash so the good news is there have not been many dinners/ wine with old friends BUT also no gym /class time . Not complaining just surprised because my visits here aren’t usually like that . Maybe he’s also sensing that it’s getting less weird for me to be a mile from my LA home where my estranged husband is still living ! & believe me I’m thankful for that ! Today I’m starting back on my healthy patch , nothing reminds you of goal than just seeing all the fit people in sunny Los Angeles !1

Hello everyone! I'm 5'1" and new to MFP (joined at 2 AM this morning). I am currently at my heaviest weight and looking to shed some pounds off. I went from pant size 00 to 6 being tight. I'm aiming for about 1,200 daily calorie intake with 30 mins of cardio 5x a week. I'm very new to this so feel free to add me/message me with suggestions and advice!!1

Hi ladies! I'm 5' and have a calorie goal of 1200. I can use some friends on my list that have similar stats and goals. Feel free to add me.1

5' 1", hovering around 126 -127lbs, 1200 net calories. I could not do 1200 total, so I aim to get a bit of activity in to be able to eat more. Currently eating around 1450, but not losing much, have to reduce a bit more or bump up my activity0

I know most of you will not agree with this, I am in no way telling you to eat this few of calories but I'm just sharing my experience as a fellow shorty who has recently seen a weight loss doctor . I'm 4'11 currently weighing 170 lbs. Started at 183 lbs 3 weeks ago so I'm down 13 lbs!! I only eat between 800-950 calories a day and most days I do not exercise! ( I was put on an 800 calorie diet by a weight loss specialist because I'm technically morbidly obese for my height) he said anyone 5ft or shorter will benefit so much from a 8-900 calorie diet. Or even tall people who are morbidly obese are put on this diet in the beginning of their weight loss journey. He said maintenance calories should be 1200. And to answer the question everyone is wondering. No I am not starving all day. I still eat all the foods I love just smaller portions. I would love to hear low calorie recipe ideas from those who are on a 1200 calorie diet and also wondering how others weight loss is going getting to eat 400 calories more than I get a day lol. Again not recommending this diet to anyone just looking for support!2

This isn't good advice, for you or anyone. The MINIMUM that MFP recommends is 1200 calories just for your body to function properly and get enough nutrients. MFP also recommends only losing 2 pounds or less a week. Unless you want to damage your organs, lose your hair, and large amounts of muscle mass, don't follow this advice. Maintenance for a 30 year old with your stats and sedentary lifestyle is between 1600-1700 a day. BMR is just over 1300 (that's just to keep your body alive and functioning). Even for someone who is sedentary, 120lbs. and 4'11", maintenance is still 1400 calories a day.0 -
