I hate breakfast! Help?

Okay, so I know that eating 3 square meals a day is the good, healthy way to do things. I have no problem with lunch and dinner, but growing up I was never required to eat breakfast so I just didn't. Now, I dislike most breakfast foods, especially eggs! I can tolerate oatmeal, but eating that every morning is going to get tiring eventually! Any recipe ideas or foods you buy that you'd recommend? Anything would be appreciated, even if it's only like a breakfast shake or breakfast bar. Thanks!

It doesn't have to be breakfast food...I have been known to eat tuna salad or leftover stir fry for breakfast. Just get something in your body to get you fueled in the morning. Even a handful of nuts, a piece of cheese, etc.

So eat a sandwich. You need to eat a morning meal, but I don't see why you think you have to eat "breakfast foods." Eat leftovers from dinner if you want.

When I am on the run I do a smoothie with Protein powder, banana, Silk Almond milk, ice (to taste) , flaxseeds and a little PB for a nice PB/Banana taste. Great treat and breakfast all at once!!!!

Seriously, eat pasta, (if that's what you eat, I don't), chicken, tuna salad, roast beef. It doesn't have to be eggs. It's your life, you write the rules.

excellent reason why I insist my 12 year old daughter at least has a glass of milk before she goes to school. ( She hates breakfast.) A bit of protein is what you need. It really does pay off too!!

Thanks everyone! And my boyfriend and I only buy what we're going to use. So, for instance, if we're having ravioli and tomato sauce for dinner, we only cook how much we're going to eat, that way we don't get tempted to go back for seconds if we don't need them. So there usually aren't any leftovers. Toast and peanut butter is a good idea though, I love peanut butter :)

Agree with several who said "Eat something" - doesn't have to be breakfast food, but should be a balanced meal - some carbs, some protein. It's the most important meal of the day - really.

just like most everyone has said it doesn't have to be breakfast food. Also, instead of 3 meals a day think about trying 5-6 smaller meals through out the day, it is a better way to fuel your body and keep your metabolism burning.

    -apples and cinnamon
    -apples dipped in oatmeal
    -berries and granola
-mash a banana and throw some chocolate protein powder on it
-whole wheat toast with peanut butter and grape halves on it
-special k cereal, protein plus (10g of protein in each serving!)

Have a Banana and a glass of milk, Half a bagel with some peanut butter, PB & J on whole grain bread, Grilled Cheese sandwich, a cup of cottage cheese and glass of Orange Juice.

Any one of those will take about 2-5 mins of your time and give you a Carb/Protein mix that'll kickstart your metabolism and brain functioning in the morning.

Think of it this way....if you worked an 8 hour day without any food...would you skip dinner? Not likely.

So think of your sleep as an 8 hour workday....where the body is working at repairing tissues and building new cells from the previous day's stresses. You need to fuel yourself upon waking in order to take advantage of these energy systems.

Peanut butter on whole grain toast, yogurt, fruit ... you can eat whatever you want.

I don't subscribe to the thought that you MUST eat breakfast, so if you're not hungry or you truly just don't want to, you CAN lose weight and be healthy without it. I was at my thinnest (and perfectly healthy) during the years that I was too sick to my stomach every morning to eat.

I usually eat toast with all different toppings...peanut butter or turkey seem to be the most common. I keep my bread to one slice and make like half a sandwich (because I can eat it on my way to work). Yogurt is good too and sometimes I'll mix a little cereal (usually the healthy fiber stuff that tastes like cardboard but is good for you) into it for some texture. And I try to eat one piece of fruit for breakfast just to get a serving of fruits and veggies in during the day....really for breakfast you can eat whatever you want...but its really important that you eat something to jumpstart your metabolism for the day...hope this helps

I am 55 years old and have never eaten breakfast. I have coffee. I eat when I'm hungry and I'm not hungry until at least 11 o'clock.
I don't think it has hurt me any. I was always a good weight and only started to gain when I went through menopause. Now I have changed my diet a little and am back to where I have been for 40 years. So if you don't want breakfast don't eat it. Eat when you are hungry. Just make healthy choices when you do eat.
Oh and I eat before I go to bed too.

Breakfast means "break your fast". You don't need to eat what society deems as breakfast foods. Eat what you like. Eat left overs from dinner the night before! Who cares, as long as you eat! In some counties it's common to eat beans for breakfast.

How many times a day are you eating?

Usually only once around 3 pm, but I've started eating breakfast.

I hadn't eaten breakfast in 16 years before I decided to make a go of it last year. The thing that got me into the eating breakfast were Vitatops. They're these 100 calorie muffin tops with protein and vitamins. They don't feel heavy in your stomach but they do get you metabolism going and they're good for training you to eat breakfast!

Good luck! Make the switch to breakfast-- the best thing I ever did! Now I can't start the day without something in my stomach!

Contrary to what many 'experts' are saying, there's nothing wrong with skipping breakfast. I'm pretty sure our bodies haven't evolved to need breakfast to get going in the morning (I'm sure hunter gatherers didn't have buffalo sitting around their campsite ready to be killed every morning).

If you're not hungry, don't eat. If you are hungry and don't like breakfast foods, eat food that you want to eat.

Recent studies have shown that eating breakfast does not lower calorie consumption throughout the day and actually has the reverse effect. The metabolical advantage has also been shown to be a myth. (With that said, I know there are studies that state the opposite).

I'm not saying to not eat brekfast, but I'm saying that you shouldn't force yourself to eat if you're not hungry, and you definitely shouldn't force yourself to eat things you don't like just because they're considered 'breakfast foods'.

Edit: I honestly don't see anything wrong with eating once a day if you're healthy and your hormones are working well (and you're eating enough at that one meal to provide fuel and energy for your body for the next 24 hrs - see Intermittent Fasting).

However, I've just checked your weight and the amount of times you eat per day; and I'm guessing there are likely some metabolic hormonal issues at play here.

If this is recent, then I strongly recommend you take it slower and avoid shocking your body like that, because it could really stall your metabolism.

I also, would probably advise not to follow my earlier advice of only eat when your hungry since your hormones probably aren't regulated properly.

My new advice: Try getting three square meals a day of whole natural foods. Eat lots of veggies. Make sure you get sufficient protein.

I know :| half of my problem has been only eating once a day, but eating a lot in one sitting. That's why I've started eating breakfast, because I usually end up eating fewer calories all in one sitting and not making myself unnecessarily full.
  • i was the exact same way for many many years. I had people close to me ask me how in the hell im big when they never see me eat. Its cause i never ate but maybe one meal and would gorge myself with more calories than i now eat in an entire day! I have so much more energy now! Ya i miss that greasy fattening food, but nothing tastes as good as skinny feels :)

There is nothing wrong with eating once a day. The whole "multiple meals to increase metabolism" thing is an irrational myth. Your metabolism is actually much more active during times of short term fasting (10-24 hours)
