I’m confused

Please forgive me but I do not understand why I get fewer calories in a day when I exercise more. Can someone help me? Thanks

Are you using a fitness gadget of some sort?0

You shouldn't. You should get more. Are you using a fitness watch to input your exercise? What did you do to set your activity level? If you set your activity level as active but your watch says that you aren't, you might end up with fewer calories. I enter all deliberate exercise and it gives me additional calories. I don't sync my watch to MFP because that could lead to double counting of steps.1

What's you activity level in MFP set to? What you're seeing is negative adjustments...meaning FitBit is estimating your total activity for the day is going to be less than what you have your activity level set to in MFP.0 -
Hi, what is the recommended setting? I saw on here earlier if I set it to sedentary, I could be getting more exercise than I think0

Recommended is close to what your non-exercise activity level is. Then add in exercise separately. I tend to set mine lower (so sedentary instead of lightly active) to cover those days I don't do much and reward those days I do (plus exercise).0 -

But even so... she's saying that on days she exercises she gets less calories than days she doesn't. Regardless of activity setting, she should get more cals on exercise days, not less cals.
For the sake of conversation...
MFP set to active = 2000 cals per day
fitbit estimates 1500 cals on rest day
MFP gets negative calorie adjustment of 500, giving 1500 cals for the day
MFP set to active = 2000 cals per dya
fitbit estimates 1800 cals on exercise day
MFP gets negative calorie adjustment of 200 cals, giving 1800 cals for the day
Is that not the gist of how it works?0
