I am currently doing 16:8 and eating under 1200 calories in my 8 hour eating window. Would the one can of Pepsi max I have daily be stopping me from losing weight? I go to the gym 5 x week with a combo of weight training and cardio plus work out at home in the mornings at least 5 times a week. Keen to hear your thoughts.

    No.

Weight loss is about calories. Ingesting zero calories does not stop weight loss.

Why do you think it would stop you from losing?

    No.
The artificial sweeteners and " chemicals" will not stop you from losing weight.

Which is why you shouldn't get your information from the internet or if you do at least avoid the .com's covered in ads.

Yeah, I quit smoking a couple of years back, but they will pry my Dt. Dr. Pepper out of my cold dead hands...not giving it up!

Does it have calories? If not, then no.

Thanks Aaron. 1200 calories is a shitload of food! I usually only eat between 800 and 1000 calories per day so i am trying to hit 1200 but can't fit it in.

Yeah... what @WinoGelato said! It's not usual for people who need to lose weight to have got there by being unable to eat enough. Which is why such statements tend to be met with a certain amount of disbelief.

Have you changed your eating habits radically and are filling up on low-calorie stuff like a ton of veggies, so that you don't feel like you have room for more food? Are you weighing all your food and choosing correct entries in the database, to be sure you're really eating that little?

If you're genuinely struggling to reach 1200 (and you should be trying to reach at least that, unless you're very short and sedentary) try adding some of these foods:

And to answer your original question - no, your flavoured water, which is basically what diet sodas are, won't be stopping you from losing weight.
