Can't figure out where I'm going wrong...

I have been using the MFP App for almost a month. I have changed alot of my eating habits. I even made myself start eating breakfast and lunch. It feels like I eat all day and yet when I tap to complete the days food diary, it says I have not eaten enough calories and it cannot give me the estimated 5week weight and everything. So I feel like I'm supposed to eat more so the warning goes away. I drink a glass of water before and while I eat so I feel Fuller. What do I do since apparently I'm not eating enough calories???

I agree with both comments above, and also would like to ask OP if they are losing at the expected rate or more quickly? If you are losing at your goal, then you are eating more than you think (use that scale and start weighing!!), if you are losing more than your initial weekly goals, then you need to eat more.

    Yep, all of the above
    1. What has your weight done in this month?
    2. Are you using a food scale?
    3. If you are really eating under 1000 cals, that is really unhealthy. But if you haven't been hungry, haven't been using a food scale, and aren't rapidly losing weight, you are probably eating more than you think. Logging correctly is a skill we all have to learn, it can take some practice and help to get it right!
  • I weigh every Monday and it has been fluctuating. Two weeks ago, it said I had lost 3lbs and this last Monday it said I had gained 6.3lbs. I don't use a food scale. I just use measuring cups or eat low calorie meals that are already portioned out. But thank you for all your advice! I'll look into a food scale and get better at tracking everything to see if changes anything.

Measuring cups and spoons are often inaccurate, and prepackaged foods can be off by up to 20% in weight while still meeting the legal requirements of accuracy. I weigh everything, even prepackaged foods, peanut butter, shredded cheese, etc. and have caught 100s of extra calories that way.

Does this legal inaccuracy thing apply everywhere? I thought that the tolerance was about 2.5% for items <1kg in the EU?
