I exercise all week
Eat well
Then as soon as the weekend arrives I turn into a binge eating alcy
And I can't seem to stop it

    Have you tried to preplan slightly healthy versions of the foods/alcohol you crave.

    Example
    I do enough exercise on the elliptical on Saturday so I can drink two margaritas and eat pumpkin gnocchi with goat cheese

    I don't do a sauce with the gnocchi which saves alot especially if a typical sauce is a butter or cream sauce.

    A margarita well is a margarita and sometimes I toss champagne in too, but I plan out my whole day so I can have those and stay within calorie limit

    What do you currently do on the weekends? Any pre-set plans or schedule? If not, that may be the answer. Not to say to take up your whole weekend, but just add SOME structure in and pre-plan your meals.

    Plan your weekend the same way as you plan your week.

    Same here but I am working on changing it. Instead of the whole weekend being a bust I will plan my breakfast, lunch and snacks and then let loose in the evenings. Keeping your water intake up will help too. And I also weigh in Monday mornings at 8:00, so the weekend will show on the scale if I am not careful.

    I found a good way to manage my weekends is to make exercise out of a social thing - go for a hike, go dog walking, walk into the city for drinks, etc. I also tend to eat brunch rather than separate breakfast and lunch to give me a few more calories for dinner/takeaway/drinks.

    Planning is almost certainly the way forward.

    Also consider if you're maybe overly-restrictive during the week that makes you want to eat everything in sight on a weekend.

    I make sure my weekends have some structure to them for the most part...there's the odd totally lazy day here and there, but for the most part I give myself things to do on the weekend so I'm not just hanging out bored and eating. I do drink on the weekends, but that's never really had any impact on my weight management. My family likes to be active, so we go for family hikes, rock climbing, the trampoline park, the zoo, etc...I can't stand just sitting around at home for hours on end.

    I also like to workout on weekends because that's when I actually have time to take a longer ride and it's easier for me to get to the gym to lift than it is on a week day...my rest day is usually Monday, not the weekends.

    Yes! I am very good about planning meals on weekdays, pre-logging food and working out.

    My weekends in cold months - I sit inside, bundled up watching tv, basketball, movies, etc. and snack
    My weekends in warm months - I go on runs, swim, off-roading, etc. and eat less

    I am currently trying to figure out a plan that works for my weekends during this last bit of cold!

    I can't wait for warm weather!!

    He's at home all weekend
    I try and plan to go out walking the dog
    I'm full of good intentions
    But he just wants to laze around and eat out !!!
    It's willpower I'm lacking

    You got to move it move it!

    Well, at least if the problem is that you are grazing out of boredom, being active can both burn calories and keep you busy.

    Weekends are great for longer, more social workouts: volleyball, hiking, goofing off in the pool, killer round robin ping pong...

    You can surely go out walking the dog without him? it's a bit of a cop-out laying the blame on him, take responsibility and get your *kitten* out the door with that poor dog.

    I'm not really blaming my husband !! I know I should make better choices
    It's just too easy to fall into his pattern when he's at home
    On the plus side I've just started Zumba once a week and swimming

    And if I didn't have weekends out of town. I was out of town last weekend and now I'll be out of town this weekend for classes to renew my EMT license. I've kind of been bad and have been calling them 'cheat' weekends.

    LOL this was me! I had to get a handle on my weekend eating and once I did that the weight loss followed.
    Even in maintenance I bank calories from during the week so I can still enjoy eating more at the weekend.
    Find a way to make it work for you.

    I just see the weekend now as every other day and not as weekend, I found treating the weekend as two separate days was bad for my waist line lol. I now eat as i do on the weekend as i do in the week. :)

    This is why everyone says this is a lifestyle change... following your current weekend lifestyle means you don't lose weight, so you have a choice to make.

    I've just had a very bad weekend
    I'm bloated and groggy

    e.g try and share when you have takeaway - that's half the calories right away for starters.
    Keep active if you can even by taking a walk.
    I enjoy breakfast out too on Saturdays, hubby will tuck into a full Irish fry up whereas I will order toasted wheaten bread and some poached eggs. Its all about choice and making better ones.

    You have the choice and its you who can make small changes which will have big effects.

    Something that helps me on the weekend is to combine breakfast and lunch into one (reasonable) meal. My spouse instigates terrible eating habits as well, and will suggest pizza, stuffed cheese bread, and brownies at least once a week. Obviously these things are amazing, so it's a bit harder to say no. So instead we've compromised that I make us breakfast around 11am, something lower calorie but still "special" enough to satisfy the "but it's the weekend!" feeling. That way we can save more calories to splurge a little in the evening. Plus I aim to go under my calories throughout the week so that I can throw those in my bank too.

    There is no reason you can't have a takeaway now and again, just plan for it.

    Eat a little less during the week, get some extra exercise in and "bank" the calories for the weekend. You're only going to gain fat if you're eating more than maintenance, it takes around 3500 calories over maintenance to gain 1lb.

    For example, my own calorie allowance is 1800 per day, 2 days during the week I might net only 1600 calories, which gives me an extra 400 calories, so on Saturday I'll have my poached eggs or an omelette for brunch which is around 400 calories, that leaves me 1800 calories to play with if I want to go out, before even taking any exercise into account. If I walk into the city (around 3 miles away) that another couple of hundred calories.

    It's not the weekends that get me. I do fine at home and with eating out. It's work. All the snacks, sweets, pizza lunches, etc that people bring it. It's almost like they force me to eat it :)

    I find that when I'm at a restaurant or getting takeaway if I package half of it up right away (to use as lunch or dinner for another day) then I'm more likely to stay within my calorie limit. Also, logging before I eat something helps me out a lot to not go overboard. My fitbit also helps to keep me from lying on the couch all day on the weekends because I have no excuse not to get my steps in!

    I also suffer the weekends food choices.

    its hard because the wife wants, wine AND cakes AND deserts AND dinners that utilize as much fat as possible in them AND going out to coffee shops. The kiddy wants to bake biscuits. They both want sit down meals with loads of social food.

    I am certainly not going to deprive them of it, but there is only so much damage limitation you can do when you are trying to minimize the calories in ribs, hotwings or massive burgers, cake etc etc etc.

    Yes you can find the low cal option in all of those, yes your lunch can consist of just 3 wings out of a plate of 30. But it is hard and it requires discipline

    I also calorie cycle - I average my calories out across the week. If my daily goal is 1330 calories, I eat around 1100 on week days when I have a good routine and then that gives me a bit more wiggle room on weekends. I usually eat about 1500 on a Friday, 2000 calories on a Saturday and 1500 on a Sunday. This only works though if you log everything on weekends as well so you can get an accurate average. Works for me! I've lost about 30kgs.

    I think this past weekend was a very bad weekend for me
    Two family meals out
    Out to see a band Saturday night
    And takeaway with the kids
    I give up trying to keep a check on things when I realise there's no way I can keep control of it
    Then I beat myself up about it
    Thankfully I don't have that many weekends like that
    But I do find it a lot easier to just give up
    I had the same problem with smoking
    So I guess it's just the way I am
