Car wreck!
I broke my patella and jammed both wrists in an accident on 2/23, and I am barely holding it together. I have a big event to be a part of in early May, and need to not gain out of the dress, but now even walking is just killing me.
Motivate me? Help me? I'm heading into PT today (ugh) but other than that, I'm doing this alone

OMG, That's horrible! Focus on you and healing. Can your PT doc give you some exercise ideas that wouldn't be painful?? I understand how defeating an injury can be I sure hope you get better soon0 -
If you really cant do any exercises dont worry. But you can eat healthy and at least try to maintain your weight. If you watch your calorie intake you may even lose a few lbs.2

I blew my knee out really bad at the beginning of my "journey" into better health. I lost 50 lbs with a daily calorie deficit ONLY, absolutely no exercise at all. I didn't start to be active until my knee was "slightly" better after about 7 months and specialist treatment.
I actually found it easier to lose weight with only my food choices, when you add in exercise you need to up your calorie intake depending on how much activity you do and that is where the "tightrope" of calories vs. how many you really expended thru exercise calories so how much should you increase your intake each day. It took me a number of months to get this and find my personal sweet spot.
Losing weight is truly more done in the kitchen than the gym in truth.3 -

i can remember trying to improve my health with an arm bike type thingy. i sat upright and "peddaled" the bike with my arms. it was super tough. can't remember exact name of it, but my guess is a physical therapy place would have one for you as it did me. If after your therapy place has one, ask if you can use it for a few minutes after your technical knee therapy is done. perhaps they might even incorparate it b/c of your jammed wrists, or perhaps its not good for your wrists, but certainly worth looking in to.0

Gained a little, but made he day work. One wrist has healed completely NOW after 18 months.

I agree with you that the math is easier when it's just a diet-based loss. It's also hard when I just can't move, because then I feel weak, and I've never really felt that before, so I'm uncomfortable with it.1 -

I agree with you that the math is easier when it's just a diet-based loss. It's also hard when I just can't move, because then I feel weak, and I've never really felt that before, so I'm uncomfortable with it.

No worries, friend. I get a little freaked out in the big forums, since they can be a tad intimidating ("You need to lift!" "Find time to focus on you" and the like). Today I'm focusing on breathing, and trying to figure out how to calorie count around throwing up from chemo, so I'm too far removed from their world.
