Anyone know of any good articles or research out there about the addictive qualities of processed/fast food? I know I've read stuff, but I've never bothered to bookmark any of it, and now a friend is interested. Thanks in advance for any help!

I'm not sure if fast food is addictive (other than its easy and, for some folks, easy is addictive), but there are plenty of articles about how BAD fast food and processed food is for you. about how the crap in those "science projects" isn't what your body was made to digest and how your body struggles with what to do with the various scientific word ingredients in those "foods". There are plenty of articles about how certain "foods"...mostly sugary foods....create cravings for more sugary foods. many processed and fast foods are HIGH in sugar content. additionally, there are articles that suggest that sugar addiction/cravings can be overcome once you reduce the sugar in your diet.
one book that I recently ordered and read, The Diet Solution, talks about many of these issues....as well as a guide to healthy eating.0 -

I'm looking more for straight-up scientific studies and articles about the addictive qualities of the food. Thanks, though!0 -

I was looking more for articles/authors that people have already read and would recommend. Thanks again, though!0 -
Have you read Gary Taubes' "Good Calories, Bad Calories"? I'm still waiting in line for it from the library, but it's supposed to be chock-full of references to studies (the references section itself is like 70 pages!). I did read his book "Why We Get Fat", which is a more condensed version of GCBC (it's over 500 pages!), and would recommend it.0

I haven't. Thanks! The references might really come in handy, too.0
