I lost my 100th pound last week - here's what's worked for me

Options
It took me 2.5 years to lose 100 pounds. I'm coming up on my one year anniversary of working with my dietitian, Diane, so I thought I would summarize what works for me:

1 lb of fat = 500 cals/day/wk at gym
Mindful eating
Fill up on veggies
Set specific small weight goal
Weigh in with Diane every 6 weeks
Give it time. It’s a very slow process.
Is this bite worth the gym time?
Eat more? Ask me in ten minutes
Eat half, save half
10,000 steps/day on fitbit
No TV during meals
Snack on veggies
Don’t get too hungry
Don’t eat if I’m not hungry
Avoid processed carbs, sugar and fat
Drink lots of water
My body keeps track even if I don’t
Good music during exercise
Keep bad snacks out of the house
Chips aren’t as tasty as you imagine

I use MyFitnessPal every day to log my weight but no longer log my food. Food logging was very important early on in order to learn about calories. I don't count calories specifically anymore because I've learned generally what's healthy and what to avoid. I do read food labels for calorie content.

I hope this helps someone.

Hang in there,
jim

I would say that chips ARE as tasty as you think they'll be, but I don't have to eat every yummy thing out there. At least not now! (Congrats on the amazing weight loss!)

Great job I'm at -115 lbs and still going and agree and follow your list almost exactly most important one for me is think why I am eating and I do the if I'm hungry drink water first wait 15 minutes if still hungry then eat because I'm really hungry.
