Back on wagon after 10,000 cal weekend

Because of a party on Saturday and out-of-town guests on Sunday, I decided to neither watch what I was eating nor log calories. Instead I ate as much as I wanted and drank a bunch of beer. I wouldn't be surprised if it was 5,000 calories each day.
But here's the thing. It's Monday and I'm back on track. I don't plan to do that again next weekend or the one after that. But I think it's important that I learn to give myself permission to do it when I want to, not to feel guilty about it, and to realize that if it's rare it's not really going to affect my plan or progress at all. My weight loss is ahead of schedule after 11 weeks and I anticipate it will stay that way.
The key, of course, is not letting a day or two of that behavior turn into weeks or months of it.

Agreed. A one day of food binge won't do anything in the long run. Remember you can't get skinny overnight....well we can also say that you can't become overweight overnight. Usually we become that way because we let it happen for many days, months and even years.2 -

Yup! I logged about 10k calories this weekend too in a last blow out before quitting smoking (1 day down, hopefully many more to come). It happens. I didn't stop having a life when I started losing weight, I just started being more deliberate and conscientious about my health.7 -

Good for you! Do whatever it takes to make it through the first few days not smoking. If you can get in a little cardio it might help you to not feel like you want to smoke. Good luck.0 -
Hey SteveinChicago--I have a brother in law named Steve in Chicago! I'm not sure if he's on mfp or not...
I also went way over my calories this weekend, somewhat due to PMS, but largely due to movie theater popcorn--I ate an entire bucket by myself, with plenty of butter added!! But hey, it happens about twice a year, so I enjoy, log it, and keep going. I figure 3-4 days at a deficit will make up for it.
I'm also in week 11!! Good luck on the rest of your weight loss effort!!0 -

Thanks! I've already planned to increase my cardio this week, and hopefully the snow we're maybe supposed to get will hold off so I can get a run or two in. This isn't my first rodeo, but dang it, I want it to be the last!2 -
Good attitude, @SteveinChicago! Sounds likes you're heading for long term success, IMO.0

That's fine, just be prepared for less loss thus week, maybe even a gain due to water retention.0

I'm in the same boat. St Patrick's day ruined me! I probably didn't eat to much excess, but I definitely drank a lot of vodka/la croixs in one day and I put on a TON of water weight. I'm crossing my fingers the scale tips back in my favor tomorrow morning. This AM was a real punch in the gut. But hey... I had a lot of fun and I don't feel deprived, so this whole thing should be longer lasting, right?1
