new here. was wondering is weight loss possible using all of calories i was alloted? scared it is too much.

    Since MFP has already taken off calories to put you in a deficit, you should be eating all of the calories

    The number often seems high because we read a lot about 1200 calorie diets (which are usually quite aggressive unless you're short, older and/or sedentary), etc but the fact is most of us who are looking to lose weight can lose on a lot higher calorie intake.

    Here's how MFP calculates your calorie allowance:

    There is a lot of possible error in the BMR calculations though! It is not an exact science calculating all those estimates, so you should definitely track your weight for a couple weeks and if it doesn't seem to be going down, then you could maybe decrease your calories by a bit more to see if that helps, or exercise more to increase your calorie deficit.

    There isn't a massive margin of error and certainly not enough for most of us to worry about not losing at all. The majority of stalls in weight loss are down to inaccurate logging either underestimating intake or overestimating output. But as you say reviewing over 4-6 weeks should allow OP to see if she needs to adjust up or down accordingly.

    Eat all your allotted calories PLUS if you are exercising, you need to log that and eat back some of the calories you've earned. MFP has calculated the deficit for you and you will lose weight eating those exercise calories. I generally ate 50-75% percent of my exercise calories and lost weight.
