Pasta Calories

I wish pasta boxes were more clear on calories of COOKED pasta. The barella protein spaghetti said 200 calories for 2 ounces of pasta. 2 ounces of cooked pasta is like nothing. It didn’t say anything about calories for cooked pasta. Someone has got to have an answer for me lol

So I didn’t just eat 400 calories of pasta by eating 4 ounces cooked then right? Lol1

How much water the pasta absorbs depends on cooking time, altitude, weather....hence, the cooked weight changes. Of you are cooking for yourself, just weigh it before you cook. If you are making a bigger batch, weigh it, cook it, weigh it again and divide by the number of servings that you original weight came to.4

Probably not.1 -
With the pasta I usually prepare, 2 oz of dry weight = about 5 oz cooked weight (thank you, OXO food scale) You're prolly ok0

Cooked or uncooked I am always disappointed in the calories in breads and cereals!

Of course you can... if you're not fussed for a calorie deficit! :laugh:0 -
There's a website that says the ratio of cooked pasta by weight to dried pasta is apparently 2.1:1, so 210g of cooked pasta is the equivalent of 100g of dried pasta.
I tried this with Barilla a couple of times and thats what I got as well when cooked for the specified time - cook the pasta longer and it will take up more water and therefore not be the same ratio.1 -

Probably 200.
In my experience, a cooked serving of pasta is between 120g and 130g, depending on how long you cook it.0 -
All dried pasta, regardless of type, is about 100 cals/ounce uncooked.
I just weight it b4 cooking and eat it all. Much easier to estimate the cals consumed that way.1 -

Weigh it dry. Over cooked pasta has absorbed more water than al dente pasta......the water added weight (and bulk) but added zero calories.0 -
Pasta is a sad, sad food.0
