Getting back on track

Hi everyone, so I’m frustrated today and trying to restart again. Back in November I was almost at goal weight. I weighed 110 lbs. I am 4 ft 9 in. Then life happened and I had to quit and exercising. For a while I maintained but then the weight creeped up and I’m back to where I started at 115 lbs. the resin I’m frustrated is because this always happens and I’m tired of the yo-yo. I just want to be able to wear a dress confidently. Anyone have any suggestions of restarting? I was jogging 2 mikes a day along with a Jillian Michael video.

    Asking for suggestions for restarting - instead of just restarting - suggests to me that you tend to go "all in". Don't do that. Weightloss is a slow process, and maintenance is for life. Life tends to happen all the time. So you need a diet and exercise routine you can always stick to.

    Not using exercise for weight loss would help, do it for health, fitness, goal setting and enjoyment.
    That way the same motivation/commitment to exercise when losing continues into long term weight management at goal weight.
    Do you enjoy jogging? Do you enjoy JM videos?
    Enjoy them enough to do then irrespective of whether you are 5lbs overweight or at goal weight?

    That was a slow rate of gain since November, just a small change to your calorie balance - an equally small change would reverse the process.

    If you keep yo-yoing then you know if you do the same things you are most likely going to get the same result.
    I would suggest the first part of your restart is to think ahead to how you intend to maintain rather than the short term view of how you will lose 5lbs.

    What are your calories like? Gaining 5 lbs is nothing and could very well be water or muscles if you've kept up with training.

    Life will always get in the way, believe me I know. For me, it is constant changes in my life (due to my job, I move around a lot and to very far away places) that make me suddenly be in a new place, no gym membership, a totally new routine and sometimes no access to cooking my own meals. I get frustrated as well by everything shifting and my 'fit and healthy' plans going awry, but as the commenters above mentioned, try first changing your mindset. It's not restarting, it should be a lifestyle and your life permits you to have ups and downs too.

    Even if my life changes drastically, I have formed some habits that stick with me: I walk everywhere I can, everyday, and this habit is extremely good both for your mind and body -for life-. I love eating fruits and vegetables, so I naturally lean towards options that have more of these when eating out, and at home I'm always stocked on them. I have a hearty breakfast (oatmeal, fruits, nuts, smoothies or waffles with whey protein..) if I know I'm having a busy day, this way I won't be famished by the time lunch arrives and I always carry a couple of snacks in my bag to not have to buy stuff elsewhere (raw bars, fruit and nuts).

    Again, sport should be something you find enjoyable in order for you to stick with it. Start with small gestures in your day to day and set up smaller, more-attainable short term goals ('mini goals') to not feel discouraged.

    You have gained 5lbs, its not the end of the world. You know what to do, now just get back to doing that consistently and you will get back to your preferred weight.

    you need to figure out how to lose weight in a sustainable way - yes life happens, but it sounds like working out 7 days a week just isn't something you can do long term.

    Thank you all. Yes I did go all out in order to reach my goal weight. Since I’m short and 43 years old , weight comes off slower. So I restricted myself to 1200 calories/day . Not eating back my exercise calories. Cut out all sugars except fruit but the day the workouts stop, is when everything goes downhill. I think I’ll start with the jogging again and logging in.
    And you are right, it’s a lifestyle change.

    This.^ Do the types of things you can do forever.....you'll still get to goal, it will just take longer. I've done the yo-yo thing myself :s .

    Eating gross 1200 cals is probably why you crash and burn
