Apple cider vinegar

So I drank AVC for about 3 months morning and night and I realised it was making me more hungry instead of doing the opposite. Now I've taken a break on it since it wasn't making any difference.
Was I doing something wrong?

No. ACV does nothing for weight loss.12

The only thing you did wrong was falling for a weight loss scam.
Visit your dentist as it can really damage your tooth enamel.
Reducing your calories below the amount you burn each day is the only way to lose weight.9 -
Taking it in the first place. It does nothing for weight loss.4

Yep you were taking ACV and expecting it to do something for weight loss, it doesn't.
Calorie deficit is what you need for weight loss.3 -

This is important especially if you were taking it on its own as a "shot" instead of properly diluting it.1 -
Isn't all the fluff around ACV based on a peer reviewed Japanese paper published in 2009
"Vinegar intake reduces body weight, body fat mass, and serum triglyceride levels in obese Japanese subjects.
Kondo T1, Kishi M, Fushimi T, Ugajin S, Kaga T."
A double blind 12 week study on 155 obese Japanese Adults. All sounds good so far except its a small sample size and quite short.
However, it was conducted at the Central Research Institute of the Mizkan Group Corporation. You'll never guess what they produce, market and sell. Yep you guessed it Apple Cider Vinegar.

yes, taking it thinking it would suppress your appetite.3

Take this advice seriously. It can ruin the enamel on your teeth0 -
Why do silly threads like this come up as often as they do?
I literally lose IQ points every time I see one.7 -
I took apple cider vinegar awhile back,NOT for weight loss but I read it was good for sinuses,it made my blood sugar drop too much and yes,,I ate to try to bring it up quick so maybe that happened to you, gross anyways and gave me terrible acid reflex3

ACV, based on my experience, is irrelevant to weight loss. (I've drunk the stuff for unrelated reasons for weeks at a time while logging meticulously, and didn't drink it for weeks at a time while still logging meticulously. Zero difference in weight loss rate. No difference in subjectively perceived appetite. None.)
Based on my n=1, I think the concern about tooth enamel is overblown. Drinking mine as a shot, it's in my mouth for about a second, barely touches my teeth (straight down the middle), and is followed by water. There's more tooth contact from vinaigrette dressing on salad. My dentist thinks my teeth are great.
Useless for weight loss IMO, though.3 -

No...ACV doesn't have magical weight loss properties...the only thing you did wrong was fall for a bunch of woo.3 -

I know, there must be a new thread every day just like this one1 -
No need to drink ACV unless you just really like the taste (which I cannot imagine lol)- just stick with CICO!1

Because the MFP blog just published an article about it.3 -
Just to be clear I wasn't drinking it for weight loss but to aid digestion.
Thanks for the replies.4 -

You mentioned hunger in your OP so not surprising people would assume weight loss was your aim.2 -

This one?
I am not the biggest fan of their blog. Sometimes woo is peddled but for the most part they seem to get it right. From the above blog post...While it certainly won’t do you any harm to drink a shot of diluted apple cider vinegar each morning, the research isn’t compelling enough to support the weight-loss claims.1 -
Well if you were drinking it for digestions than you are getting some benefit, as long as it's the raw stuff. Raw ACV has live active bacteria which improves the microbiome of the gut. You weren't doing anything wrong, you actually might be improving/stimulating your digestion and in turn hunger might be a natural response. ACV has some great health benefits - sadly weight loss is not one of them.11

ACV helps me when I get heartburn.1
