Herbalife - your thoughts

Ten pounds to lose? Even better. Because you love the gym I think you could do this just by adding exercise. Your question led me to google search good sources of anti-oxidants and prunes/raisins topped the list. If you were having problems with the organic food shelf life, prunes and raisins preserve very nicely. And they don't come in expensive shakes.3

I find it difficult an expensive to eat organic plus it goes off quick so I thought of trying Herbalife and possibly be a distributor if it works. I would love to hear your experience with it please before I invest. Thanks in advance.
I am 47 and gym junky
I thought Herbalife was a pyramid scheme?
I would stay away.
Herbalife, Beachbody, Advocare, ItWorks, etc. prefer to call it "multi-level marketing". It doesn't sound quite as sleazy that way.3 -

If you want a good MLM laugh... check out this subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/antiMLM/top/?sort=top&t=all
As for OP - congrats on beating cancer! Sounds like you've had plenty of good responses so far. There's no need for expensive shakes or organic products - just eat a balanced, varied diet.2 -
OP, you don't have to eat expensive foods or supplements. Eat a balanced and varied diet with plenty of nutrient dense foods for health. Budget friendly suggestions - frozen fruits and veggies, root veg, in-season greens, eggs, rolled oats, dried beans and lentils, canned tuna. To lose weight, set your goal to lose 0.5lbs per week, log your food accurately and consistently, and hit your calorie goal. If you are concerned about nutrition due to your history, see if you can get a referral to an RD to help you ensure you are getting everything you need.
MLM products are at best over-priced. They often don't even contain what they say they do. At worst they are not quality controlled and can contain unsafe levels of questionable supplements. And far more distributors lose $$$ than make it.
Congratulations on your recovery!2 -
I have a good number of friends who were really excited about Herbalife a few years ago. The thin ones remained thin. The overweight ones remained overweight. None of them still buy Herbalife products. The distributor is still overweight and no longer sells.7

Ok, I worded it poorly. Sorry. A male bovine is a bull.0 -
Congrats OP. You beat cancer. That’s amazing!
Stay away from the Herbashite.7 -
Bull s--t or Horse s--t, call it what you like.
Herbalife is not needed for weight loss.6 -
Nothing healthy or natural about Herbalife...Be careful!
As a weight loss tool? well I lost a lot of weight quickly (30lbs in 2 months) only to gain back 45, would I do it again? NO WAY... I had to learn to eat better and took my time to lose those 45 lbs, 9.5 years ago and I’ve been maintaining just fine No starvation or lots of $$$ required....6 -
The people that make it big in multi-level marketing companies are incredible, incredible salespeople.
They are the kind that can literally sell ice cubes to Eskimos.7 -

OP, congratulations on completing cancer treatment: That's a really big deal!
I'm a 17+ year survivor of stage III locally advanced breast cancer: 5 tumors in one breast, one in the other, positive lymph node, the full treatment routine (mastectomies, chemo, radiation, anti-estrogen meds). This was when I was 44-45; I'm 62 now.
The good news is that you don't need to eat all organic, or any fancy and expensive food/supplements to lose weight or to maximize your odds of being a long term cancer survivor. I'd agree with what @kimny72 said up-thread about simply getting well-rounded nutrition with enough protein, healthy fats, and plenty of varied, colorful fruits and veggies. Moderating alcohol is also considered helpful.
These days, many cancer centers have a specialized registered dietician on staff, or oncologists know of one in the local area. Maybe you could get a referral? The RD at my cancer center was super helpful, gave me lots of information, including answering many many specific questions I had. So useful!
Even better news, since you enjoy the gym, research is showing regular moderate to vigorous exercise to be one of the best things we can do for ourselves to reduce the chance of metastasis. In some subgroups, it makes as much or more difference as chemo! This is true even without weight loss, but (of course) exercise is a helpful adjunct to weight loss, and healthy weight reduces cancer risk as well, so exercise is a really great thing for us in diverse ways.
Post-treatment, especially at first, can be an anxious time. Focusing on taking control of your controllable health factors as you're doing, via diet and exercise, is an excellent strategy. In case it might help, this is a post about the eating approach I used to lose 50+ pounds, no specialty products required:

This is the Herbalife plan:
shake and tea: 300 calories
shake: 300 calories
light dinner: 500 calories
As you can see, it is a very low calorie plan. It is something you can do on your own without spending all that money. Make your own smoothies and will be more filling and healthier than herbalife.
Good Luck.

Where'd she go???1

Organic doesn't affect weight loss. The only component any food has that affects weight is calories, and the only way to lose weight is to eat fewer of them than you burn.1
-
I used it in the past and loved it. Then I realized it was getting too expensive and I couldn’t keep up with it long term and that I could make my own meal replacement shakes at home. That’s what I do now.
As a cancer survivor I’m not sure if your team told you are not but I believe they prefer you get all you can get from food first and supplement only if necessary.2 -
A scam.3
-
No one got the body they claim from Herbalife6
-
Be careful with products like Herbalife. They cost more than it should. Look at the ingredients they put in their products as well. I've seen people I know experience body pain after buying their products. It's a scam. Make your own shakes for $50 less.2
-
I watched a news documentary about this and what a scam! Run don't walk away from it!!!!!2
-
Tried it before I found mfp, the only thing it made lighter was my purse. OP just eat what you are eating now, just less. No gimmicks or special foods are needed.2
-
Don't waste your money! The only one who benefits from Herbalife are the CEO's!3
-
It actually boggles my mind that MLS would allow them to sponsor the LA Galaxy knowing they are a full on scam.4

Never underestimate the power of money. Especially lots of money.1 -
I was told: If it grows on a tree, on / in earth, swims in water it's natural food. So why bother with chemical rubbish?
