Fitbit Scheduled Maintenance on 3/30/18
Saturday, March 31, 2018, 6:05pm PST

Hello,

Starting in the afternoon of Fri, 3/30, we started some scheduled maintenance on our integration with Fitbit. We have since identified an issue that will delay the completion of the maintenance until next week, in the mean time, we have resumed our processors, for sync to resume.

We have worked through the backlog of sync requests, but there will still be intermittent sync delays and/or interruptions until maintenance is completed.

We do not recommend unlinking and relinking the integration, as it will not resolve the issue, and will further increase the backlog of sync requests, and take longer for sync to resume as normal.

We will update this article once we are confident sync has returned to normal.

Thanks for your patience!

Best,

MyFitnessPal Staff

My Fitbit and myfitnesspal have not linked in 2 days, do I have to wait until later in the week for this to be fixed? Jane Johnstone

I am gonna tell you what I did. I found another app the syncs with Fitbit and MFP. It is called PACER. I used this app to sync with my fitbit then changed my step counter on MFP to the Pacer app and I seem to now be getting steps counted as well as calories counted. Kind of a pain, but it is a way around it that does not cost anything, but your time and trouble.

Except that you're now getting your caloric expenditure information from PACER instead of Fitbit.

Given that Pacer relies on your phone and you **don't always have your phone on you**, and given that Pacer does not appear to account for more vigorous "steps" to the same degree that Fitbit does, it has been my observation that Pacer estimates caloric expenditure to be lower than Fitbit does.

While many will celebrate and say "yeah, this means a bigger deficit", well, a bigger deficit is not always a good goal, and correct and consistent information often do matter.

I have been doing it for years, more likely a obsession now. I lost my weight, and now yoyo with half a stone. I have had to sway away from my clean healthy eating and am worried about the impact it's going to have in my running.... feeling rubbish when I exercise, that's the impact, no device told me that. I am a number person and just love doing the sums to stay fit and healthy

Actually PACER sync's with fitbit, then PACER sync's with MFP, but I have since gone back to using Fitbit to log my foods and deal with daily calories. Not coming back and forth either.
