How do y'all resist drinking cokes?

I love drinking water and I drink it all day long but I still want to drink Dr peppers. Just today I drank 3 cans. I know if I could resist them it would definitely make a difference and be a good start to my new healthy lifestyle. Do y'all have any tips for me when Dr pepper cravings hit?

I drink a couple cans of Diet Dr Pepper (or Diet Dr Pepper Cherry) every day13

I don’t resist, I have no reason to. I just drink diet soda instead of regular soda.
[ETA:] I also drink a lot of water, iced tea, coffee, etc. Everything in moderation.11 -
Just don't buy it. If it isn't sitting in the fridge, you are highly unlikely to go shopping just to buy one every time you get a craving.12

I might try and buy some diet Dr peppers for me. My husband drinks cokes too so that's why we have them if he didn't drink them and have them in the fridge I know I could resist lol0

Just drink diet sodas. 0 calories. No harm done.

Never keep it in the house. I haven't given up soda but I save it for special occasions. When I'm at the bar, I'll get ginger ale. Or I might get soda on a date night with my man. I usually order water first, and if I want something else, I'll get it after I've had water. Not drinking soda is awesome, I have so many extra calories to eat! It helps to remind yourself of that!5

I love Dr. Pepper. But nowadays I stick with Diet Dr. Pepper or the occasional Coke Zero. Both of those satisfy my cravings. I do treat myself to Coke, Pepsi, or Dr. Pepper sometimes. Soda has always been my thing. I’d rather have a can of soda than a slice of cake any day. Thank god for Diet.1

I drink a couple of diet soda each week and don't think it's evil or anything like that. I just don't like regular soda enough to use the calories on it.
However, when I first started using MFP (5 years ago) there were times when I just really craved a can of regular Coke and I would drink it, log it, and consider it a "treat" for that day...like I may have a cookie the next day, or whatever. Over time I have come to prefer other treats more, or if I'm actually hungry I would rather have a scrambled egg on toast for those 150 calories that are in a Coke.4 -
I don't care for sugary sweet carbonated beverages such as Coca-Cola and Dr Pepper. Coffee, though, is irresistible.4
-
I try to avoid buying them in the first place. If I REALLY want something I'll budget it in, but have to remember that the sweet is probably displacing something healthier and more filling .1

I didn't know how to lose weight growing up but I KNEW drinking cokes weren't going to do me any favors. Never got in the habit.0

For me I found that what I liked most about sodas (besides the sugar fix) was the carbonation. So I switched to carbonated water it really helped with the cravings.4

True, I love my diet fizzy fruit waters At least the ones that taste more like fruity sodas than fruit wishes, minerals and sadness.2 -

What do you think causes diabetes? May be a subject worthy of research for you before making such comments.12 -
I just quit cold turkey.
Don't drink sodas anymore, not even diet. Never liked diet soda or light beer, just doesn't taste the same to me.

Diet isn't a substitute for me at all since it tastes horrifying. I can't moderate and don't need it so I gave it up.3

I prefer the taste of diet to regular. Probably because thats what my parents always drank1 -

I personally hate the taste of most diet sodas, although coke zero isn't so bad.
Not buying soda is a good start, but I also know that can be hard if your family members buy and drink soda a lot.
My new favorite thing is to buy sparking water (I get the lime one from Trader Joes) and I add half a pack of crystal light (I used the raspberry lemonade flavor). It's like 5 calorie fizzy juice! It satisfies my craving for carbonation while also tasting sweet (I'm not a fan of the flavor of plain sparking water).
Really, I just recommend finding a drink that you enjoy as a substitute that you can keep in your fridge when the soda cravings hit. Maybe it's iced tea or a diet soda instead, try a few things and see.
And I don't think it hurts to have one regular soda every now and then when you're out and about...

I used to think this .... but after a while you get used to the taste and it becomes the norm .. THEN when you do buy a regular coke by mistake it tastes like neat sugar, its sticky, not refreshing, it makes your teeth furry, its sickly, its horrifying and you long for a diet one
is crazy really

If family members drink it, and you don't want to, it can be helpful to avoid triggers. For example the sound of the can opening or just the sight of it used to make me crave it, so I asked my husband to please open them in the kitchen instead of in front of me, and he puts it in an insulated coozie so the logo isn't visible. It really did help!3

This is me as well, I got use to the taste and now I prefer diet sodas to regular. I actually think the regular stuff tastes horrifying.

Go for the diet version or just account for the extra calories for the drinks in your daily allowance. In my opinion I would hate to 'waste' calories on drinks when I could be eating more intead, but that's a personal thing.0

For my beverage of choice, MT Dew,
I can consistently and reliably tell the difference between
Diet
Sugar sweetened(Throwback/International)
HFCS sweetened
I prefer diet at this point, but the sugar sweetened is acceptable. The HFCS is just syruppy0 -
Diet Pepsi has always been a part of me, the only time I ever gave it up before was during pregnancy and I only did that for the health of the baby. It's only been two weeks, but I haven't had a single sip. I think my motivation is "look what all you are doing to be healthier/feel better/look better...is it worth slowing the process down?"
I'm sure once I meet my goal, I will start drinking it again but I'm going to try to stay strong until then and fight the urge!7 -

Nope, Diet Pepsi has practically zero cals so it will not hinder your weight loss.4 -
I never liked soda, even as a kid. Water and hot tea for me. My hubby loves soda but he switched years ago to drinking water flavored with mios. I don't care for the taste but it's the only way he'll drink tap water. He'll still have a pepsi once or twice a month if we go out to a restaurant but we never keep it in the house.0
