New Runner’s Bursitis

Hey, curious if anyone has ever developed bursitis from running? I started last summer (very short distances) and developed pain in my right hip. It went away after a few days so I figured it was a pulled muscle. I stopped running during the cold winter periods and restarted and now the pain is permanent. I went to a running clinic, they checked my shoes and my stride and said it was great. I am going to physio on Friday but I am curious if anyone else had experienced this? It is very painful after sitting for just a few minutes.

Is it definitely bursitis? I have issues with my right hip flexor that leads to hip pain. I also get hip bursitis and that appears on the top of my thigh on the outside. Decent pre stretching usually ensures the bursitis stays away and avoiding running up steep hills too1

When I was beginning to run, I'd have hip pain for a few days after increasing my distance for the first time (e.g., first 4-mile run, first 5-mile run), but I don't get that anymore (and I don't know if it was bursitis).
It's good that you're going to PT. That should help. A very experienced runner friend of mine got bursitis very badly and had to pause her running for a year during PT, but she was able to get back on it and is back to her old speeds. Good luck!!1
