Is this for real though3

What you read somewhere, what did it say?2

A 100g banana has about 95 calories. Does that sound awful for weight loss?11
-
Take what you read as woo, bananas are a great nutrient and on average around 100 cals so they make the perfect snack.0
-
Excessive calories are awful for weight loss - if you eat too many calories of bananas you'll not lose weight, just like if you ate too many calories of anything you'd not lose weight.15

I just read it on a site for smoothies. It was on facebook. It was a recipe from the show biggest loser. I honestly didnt think so....3

If they fit within your calorie target, then there is nothing wrong with them. For some reason, bananas get "bad press", particularly as a so called "bad diet food". Ignore this woo and enjoy a banana, if thats what you want.
For reference, at the start of this weight loss journey, I was told by a family friend, that I would never lose weight, if I ate bananas. Rubbish, I have logged, eaten and enjoyed bananas along the way (maybe 4 or 5 a week, on average). Losing weight, through diet alone, I have lost a total of 50.2lb to date and still losing.6 -
I eat one nearly every day; two on many days and every now and then 3 on the same day. I lost 60 pounds and have been in maintenance the last 4 weeks. They were not detrimental to my progress.10

I'm not sure why bananas feature on those click bait links of WORSE FOODS EVER!!!! (have never clicked in to links to find out)
Anyway bananas are like any other food - good in appropriate amounts.
50 a day - probably not so good.
*Repeats story of Peter Siddle, Australian cricketer, who reportedly eats up to 20 a day - but he is over 6 ft tall, young male, very active. Most people - I suggest less bananas that that
1 or even several a day within your calorie allowance - sure.
They are relatively low in calories for volume, portable, tasty, nutritious - I eat several per week almost every week and have been known to eat 2 or even 3 in a single day.
I have maintained BMI of 23 for 4 years.
If you are diabetic be cautious about the sugar
If you have renal impairment be cautious about the potassium.
If you are allergic- avoid altogether.
Otherwise just log and fit into calorie allowance, like any other food.1 -
Wherever you are reading that nonsense, stop visiting that site. No single food is terrible for weight loss just like no single food is great for weight loss. Weight loss comes from a calorie deficit and that can be achieved eating any combination of foods that you enjoy, that provide good nutrition, and that fill you up. If bananas fit those criteria and fit within your calorie target - great. You also don’t have to eat any foods you don’t enjoy - I hate bananas!8

I eat a banana every day. It tastes good, fills me up, and gives me some much needed potassium.0

I know some people doing keto that don't eat bananas because of the carbs. Maybe the article you were reading was specifically about low carb diets?1

Banana girl eats lots of bananas! She doesn't need to lose weight!
I only eat a few because I don't think they're really worth their calories unless I'm using them to make nice-cream.
I find that the same calories worth of apples, for example, are more satiating.
If you prefer to spend them on bananas instead, what's it to me?
Log your food accurately and choose whatever fits your plans, needs, and likes.0 -
I love bananas and have lost over 20 pounds whilst incorporating them into my diet and calorie allowance.
The poor banana always gets a bad rep!1 -

Most of the weight she lost is brain cells
OP, unless you're someone who needs to watch your carb/sugar intake bananas are fine in moderation.4 -
I've eaten a banana with my breakfast almost every day & have lost 112 lbs. Bananas are my favorite fruit so I'd hate to give them up so I work them into my food log so I can have them.2
-
I mean, sometimes they upset my stomach and I never know when they're gonna hit me badly, but otherwise they're awesome as long as I account for the calories... (protip, if not at home with food scale I just assume one banana is 1.5 to 2 servings).0

i only use bananas in nicecream but i make it a few times a week and i love it.0

under ripe banana...really bad
just right banana...very good
over ripe banana...makes really good muffins(but only if you add peanut butter)
I try to eat at least one a day to help with my potassium level2 -

How many bananas do you eat that this is a concern?
Weight loss is not that complicated. You just need a calorie deficit. If you choose to eat most of your calories in bananas but don't go over your calorie gosl you will lose weight. Same as any food.

Any time you see some goofball site with a headline like "5 Foods You Should NEVER Eat To Lose Weight!!!", immediately hit your browser's "back" button and go somewhere else. That kind of stuff is silly garbage and you shouldn't pay any attention to one more word on whatever website that is.
Coincidentally enough, many of those stupid headlines are accompanied by a picture of a banana, for whatever dumb reason. Bananas are no better or worse than any other food for weight loss.3 -
bananas are amazing and as long as your doctor approves you eating them (i.e you are not diabetic or something else) you can fit them into your daily calorie allotment with no issue.0
-
Awful for me. That's a strong word but I do find them too calorie dense. I'd rather have protein than carbs.0
