I couldn't stay under 1500 calories either. Hooray for exercise calories!

How tall are you and how many pounds do you need to lose before you get to your goal weight?

Agree with @FlyingMolly --that board is super-supportive. I did a lot of research before doing keto, but find it very easy to follow. Once you figure out which foods you like that are keto-friendly, you pretty quickly get the hang of things!

If keto is that hard for you, why are you trying to stick with it?

The only benefit of keto is that for people who find fat more satiating than carbs, it helps them stick to their calorie goal without being miserable. It doesn't seem to have that effect for you. Weight loss on keto is no faster or more efficient than any other combination of macros, other than the initial water weight loss when you deprive your body of glycogen/water reserves. It's also a sub-optimal diet for training, especially if you're doing any kind of short duration/high intensity training (e.g., strength training, HIIT, etc.).

This^ all the way. Unless you have some specific health related reason to do keto, like say insulin resistance, why? If you find it difficult and not sustainable, it's likely not for you. It has not advantage for fat loss as anvil pointed out.

@mmapags I choose keto as I feel best eating this way. Most (but not all) carbs make me feel ill. I do train, bike, jog, weights. I guess I’m still trying to figure out if this is for me or not.
