Fats

I have a question regarding fats I hope someone can help me with. From my understanding Polyunsaturated and Monounsaturated are the fats we should be fitting into our diets over the saturated and trans fats. However, when I eat any monounsaturated or polyunsaturated fats, no matter how much, it shows I am in the negative for the day. Not so for saturated though. I am allotted 60 gm per day. Am I missing something? Any help in understanding this would sure be appreciated.

There are no set standards or requirements for those fats in MFP, that's why it shows up as a negative. Ignore it. Just eat the fats you want.4

Saturated fats have a goal as a limit to stay under - there is no such limit for unsaturated fats.1

Oh, okay thank you. That makes sense!!0

I just change my fat goals so those 2 Don't come up as a negative because not seeing red makes me feel better.1

What everyone else said. MFP messes things up long ago and gave it a goal of 0 when it used to say N/A.1

Actually the whole saturated vs unsaturated fats has kind of become debunked. The saturated ones weren't as bad as they thought. Eat the fats you desire, but maybe stay away from the highly processed ones. Also, the unsaturated fats like nuts and olive oil have health benefits, so they are good to include, but no reason to exclude the saturated.
This article explains it, but really just google "why saturated fat isn't bad" and you'll get tons of results.1 -

It's not exactly debunked. But SFA don't have the health benefits as PUFA/MUFA. It just means, they aren't harmful, as once thought.2
