Does anyone know how much zinc you should have a day?

I"d think about asking my dr. to refer me to a nutritionist for a one-time session to get some expert advice. I've been a mostly vegan vegetarian for 28-some years and have never had a problem with my hair. I log here for protein, iron, vitamin A and vitamin C most of the time but switch it up if I think I'm running low on anything. Feel free to friend me; my diary is open.

The most likely cause is probably the micronutrient deficiency mentioned by others. If you up your intake of zinc or protein and still have problems, I'd go back to the doctor and ask him or her to check your B-12 levels unless it was done at your recent physical. My sister has to take B-12 drops sub-lingually as she can't absorb it from her diet. Also, hair loss can be a sign of thyroid trouble.
